Kick Returner

Honestly, we have more problems than just kick returner. Just get it to the 20 and don't fumble. There are 10 guys on the roster (not named Felix) who can probably do that.

Yea i'm not too concerned with that. Special teams was a problem but kick returner was one of the least of them. Our defense gave up 20 points and we gave up 7 on a punt block. I'm more concerned with the offense and defense.

Well, our kick returner sucked. But as long as you can get it to the 20 yard line you should be fine. Yeah, good field position is great, but good field position is usually dictated by defense and punting. Now, fumbling on kick-offs is a no no. But we can still win with a mediocre return man. Guys like Leon Washington and Josh Cribbs are rare.

What the question really should be what team is going to show up against the Bucs ?

The ones that man handled the Giants or the ones that let themselves get curb stomped by the Seahawks

Probably the good Cowboys, and then the next week we'll blow a 4th quarter lead against the Bears, and then after the bye we'll upset the red hot Ravens, and then we'll get humiliated by Cam Newton, and whatever else adds up to 8-8.

Well, it's nice to see the topic completely disregarded. :D

Why not give somebody like Dwayne Harris a shot? I don't know if he's been active for the first 2 games. Anybody with a little bit of speed.

Doesn't matter...anyone who can just protect the ball is good enough. The kick return has been DEAD on our team for about 6 years now...aside from one return by Felix in his rookie season. Now with the kickoff at the 35, it's useless for us.

I don't even see the point anymore on taking it out on the kickoff. Just down it and guarantee yourself the 20 and let your offense go to work. There's no point in risking a turnover/injury and getting the ball out in between the 15-25 yd line. The smart move is to down it in the endzone.

Even good returners down it if it reaches the end zone. The only time I noticed the Seahawks run out the kickoff was when it didn't reach the end zone. And now that they moved up the kickoff it's harder to return it out to the 20. It used to be a certain to reach the 20 or 25.

Who should it be against the Bucs? How will you feel if it's still Felix?

Last week it did not seem to be important after all we could put anyone back there as long as they were not starting type players who actually have the skills as return men.

This. Unless you have a dynamic returner, the odds are more likely that a negative play with come from a penalty or fumble than a positive play from a kick return.

Couldn't resist.

The problem with doing that is that not every kick will reach the end zone. Good field position is a part of the game. Rolling over and quitting because we don't know if he we have anyone good there seems awfully cowardly.

I was meaning in the event of kicking into the endzone which happens at least 3/4ths of the time.
