Twitter: Kicker competition update

Among the observations from Day 2, an update on the kicking competition. Brett Maher went 6-of-9 on field goal attempts, while Lirim Hajrullahu was just 4-of-9. Worth noting, though, is that both kickers were using the Chargers’ skinny uprights; several kicks from both men would have been good on a regulation goalpost.

They need to bring in 2 more K's to compete.
They can release a WR, OL, DB, combination of 2, to keep it to the 90 man limit.

Why? Having different trash to look at ain't gonna change anything. Best bet is to hope we can get a kicker from another team who has an extra one

The tweet details and video lack context. Maher had three misses. Hajrullahu had five misses.

Did any attempts fall short? If so, that is not a field goal post problem. That is a leg strength and judgment problem.

This was skinny posts, which have uprights typically 8 1/2 feet wide. NFL field goal uprights are 18 1/2 feet wide. Context should be provided whether any kicks went WIDE left or right. If misses were off by less than FIVE feet on the outside of each upright, these would have still been good for an NFL regulation goal post.

Missed kicks may not look pretty using skinny posts. However, a bad skinny post kick is not necessarily a bad NFL field goal kick.

Tweets do not give enough information sometimes. Context.

May find a gem somewhere. So keep all options open. Bring in a few more. If they do not work out, then hit the waiver wire.
As when they get released from other teams, it will not be for a few weeks anyway.
