Should the Dallas Cowboys decide to add a free-agent kicker, the market essentially is down to Shayne Graham and Matt Stover. A thumbnail sketch on each candidate:

+ Graham, 33, has made 75-of-86 kicks to tie for fifth in the NFL for overall field-goal accuracy during the last three seasons at 87.2. Graham was particularly good in the 40- to 49-yard range during that span, making 18-of-21 attempts.Graham missed from 28 and 35 yards in Cincinnati's playoff loss to the New York Jets last season.

+ Matt Stover, 42, would bring accuracy and experience. Stover, from Lake Highlands, has a 96 percent success rate (48-of-50) from less than 40 yards in the last three seasons. His success rate droped to 57.7 (15-of-26) from 40-plus yards.

Another local kicker could enter the picture during training camp. Houston brought in free agent Neil Rackers to compete with Kris Brown, of Southlake Carroll. Brown, 33, is coming off the worst season of his 11-year career. He made only 21-of-32 kicks overall and was just 2-for-6 from 40 to 49 yards.
