Kiff says we are fine on DL

Kiff needs to look at age and contract situations before he claims we're ok there.

I'd be absolutely shocked if that hasn't happened already

He did look at the age. To him, a 30 year old is a spring chicken.

Haha, yeah, i'm sure Kiffin does not know the age and contract status of his players. Give me a break.

Can't be true, the guy in the other thread said our whole front seven is terrible and injury prone, as well as ugly. They want the big fat turd who played for their home team in college. The turd has to be the best because his cousin went to high school with him.
True, Kiffin doesn't know what he's talking about....

Kiffin has forgotten more than I will ever know about football, but it's tough to take some things stated publicly at face value. Same with Wade Phillips, but call me crazy for questioning him, too.

D-Line should be addressed next year.

and OL...in fact if we draft nothing but OL and DL next year it would be good

I mean, what do you guys want to add other than depth?

Ware, Hatcher, Ratliff and Spencer seems pretty good to me. Crawford, Lissemore and Wilbur seem like reasonable depth even though I'm not sold on any of them as a pass rusher.

I do want us to add some help on the pass rush, but it seems like we already have 4 starters up front.

Considering I always felt Ratliff was out of place at NT, I'm actually excited to see how he does at DT.

Wilber is way too small. He was drafted for the 3-4 not the 4-3. Hatcher and Ratliff won't be here after 2013. Better hope Brian Price makes an impact or we are screwed.

Wilber is 6-4, 250.

By comparison ...

Demarcus Ware is 6-4, 254.
Anthony Spencer is 6-3, 250.

Ok, so I have not taken a look at 32 clubs' defensive depth charts, but is ours the smallest front four in the NFL?

It's not really fair to ask that now, because our guys should be adding about 5-15 pounds as they transition from LB to DE. Their 2012 weight (which is all you'll find right now) would be significantly lower their 2013 weight (which is what they'll actually play their new positions at).

After they bulk up, no, they'll be on the smaller side of 4-3 teams but not the smallest.

I wish they'd just draft some 370 lb. sack of turds, so people would shut up about a "big man in the middle."

Where is Willie Blade these days?

Speaking for myself, I don't know what the future holds for any of them other than Ware.

And with so many questions on my part, I would like to see hem sign a long-term defensive lineman.

I can make the same case with a number of clubs. Many can get bigger. The larger lines can bulk up, and so on. The question is, as of now, where do we rank in comparison?

Then again, this is prolly something we should verify independently.

We're changing from one system to another. Our players are moving from one position to another. Almost every other 4-3 team has already had their system in place, and their players have already moved.

Then again, this is prolly something we should verify independently.

There was a blog post circulating after the Kiffin signing that said we would have the smallest from 4 in the league, and listed the current 5 or 6 smallest. But it didn't factor in the fact that the same player plays at a smaller weight as a linebacker than he does as a lineman.

Well, it's pretty much understood our issues with regard to size up front. Add the issue of depth and lack of impact in this area, and this looks more like a passenger group.

Ware and Spencer certainly have skins on the wall, but the unit is highly suspect.

........lack of size and total lack of durability are a problem with that group IMHO. We REALLY should have drafted 1 or 2 younger guys, especially with Brent's situation....that said, Monte Kiffin has more football knowledge in his pinky toe than I do in my whole body so.................................hope he's right.:starspin
