We try to draw them offsides. Doesn't work. We kick a FG.

WHY?

This is a chance to rush for 1.5 yards and get a first down for a TD.

Instead we play cautious ball.

We need a kiiler instinct!i
Now that we have a credible team (without oiur Albatross Drak) we need to play louser, with more tricks and be courageous on 4th downs.

I was surprised by McCarthy there too- thought for sure they would put the final nail in the coffin by going for that 4th and 1. You get that, their offense probably never touches the ball again - turn out the lights. I like you wanted to see them go for the knockout blow too.

At the time I said same thing . Use 21 as your blocking back give it to the Memphis Tiger get your first down kill more clock . Heck Pollard may have broken one off for 6 .

this was only the fifth game of the year now if we are fighting for a playoff spot at the end or in a playoff game then maybe going for it would be a must. i do understand your point that this team needs to have killer instinct i do want that too.

I was hoping the same, for MM to go for it. They had the defense tired and on their heels. Getting a good push on the LOS. Not get cute and just ram it up their throats. Allow me to explain me thoughts further.
The logical among us would follow well-used strategies on a 4th and 1. Tha careful, steady way is prudent.

Me stance kis, going for it in this instance, is making it a 2 possession game and tha works.
But I did want to see the swagger, the confidence, the gunslinger, the nimble part of us play out as a statement.
A statement we can back up our confidence now that we have talent.

Making a FG is not a given. Neither is making a yard is a given.
Both are gambles.
I thought, Alley, that going for it would offer a strong statement about Cowboys being a tougher, more confident team.
