While I wanted to go for it Mike is following analytics. By kicking that field goal you forced them to have to score 2 TD’s to win. Had we gone for it and Zeke got stuffed they only needed a TD and FG.

This. 2 TD's in 9 or so mins was not happening for LAR today.

No. I completely disagree. It's a low scoring game. Your defense is playing well. You are up by 9. It's a two score game, with a TD and field goal. You kick a field goal and you make it a 2 TD game. The goal is to win, not rub it in. The rub it in part is for the fans like you. What you describe is not killer instinct.

That was exactly what needed to be done.

The game was over in the 4th quarter. The Rams have been terrible in the 4th quarter this year. We had a solid lead and a Top 3 defense. No worries.

Making a FG is not a given. Neither is making a yard is a given.

If you make the field goal, you have scored, if you make the one yard, you still have to score. Maher has been money lately, it was the smart play. Take the three, make them score two TD's to beat you.

Quite simple really. If we don't make it and they are a touchdown and FG from taking the lead. The FG forced them to have to score two TDs. Not likely to happen in 5 minutes given our defense today.

Killer instinct IS smart football. If you have a team with a dominant defense, you take the points and secure the win. Going for it there would have been idiotic.
