Dallas has said the last 2 years they do not value a 1 tech in the 1st eound. I don't see it happening.

I never like Kiper mocks. He uses to much need picks.

I wonder how much of that philosophy is based on having the other pressing needs in this type of defense (Tampa 2 if you will...) such as: 3Tech, RDE, WLB. In other words, if you do not have those three positions yet, then don't even sweat the 1tech...that can be had anywhere.

If Ro McClain re-signs and plays the MLB the WLB is set should #50 be healthy. Marinelli seems to believe he has his 3tech in Crawford. Jury is still out on the RDE (will D Lawrence turn the corner and be the RDE they seek or will Dallas sign a FA like Hardy or JPP plus draft another DE?). If the Cowboys address these things and feel comfortable with what they have done at those vital positions in this defensive system, will that lead to a change in philosophy regarding a 1tech?

My thought is....it will definitely change and a 1st can be and likely will be invested in a 1tech. Just like what occurred in Tampa after Sapp (3tech), Simeon Rice (RDE) and Derrick Brooks (WLB) were all in place....hello Booger McFarland as a 1st round 1tech who ended his career with two rings because Dungy valued his skill set so much they paid high free agent dollars for him in Indy.

If we want a 3 tech who can also slide over and play 1 tech then i would look at Malcolm brown hard,if he does well in the combine then he will be out of reach imo.

Leon Lett may see a lot of himself in Phillips.

That is kind of what I thought watching those clips.

But he is so unpolished. I would not take him in the first.

We need DL that can play right now.

Given the way Kiper breaks it down, I would prefer Goldman over him. And I am not really a Goldman fan. I do not see him being even as good as Jernigan.

His mocks are rarely accurate, but he is good at gauging value.

This mock was pretty much in line with many others, athough the inclusion of Devin Smith as a first round choice.

It's amazing how may people don't get this. They always say he misses just as much as most online sites as far as picks go, but he is really good at grading players.

JMO but if Phillips is the target we could trade down a few spots and get him. That could yield an extra 4th for us. After hitting last years 4th round pick out of the ball park.....

There are no pundits who nail mock drafts.

None.

Gosselin used to cheat, but that is it.

That is not what it is about.

You don't think the OL is finished?
Give me DL if there's a guy there. If not, give me a trade down or some other defensive position that's a clear upgrade in a pinch.

I don't think the line is finished.

Both RT and LG can be upgraded, and RT in particular has question marks going into 2015.

I wouldn't mind Flowers either.

I don't either. And of the little film I just watched of the guy, he has great size but he wasn't making a lot of plays. Compared to Suh this is a joke.

is last mock of the year is, there is 4 months left, his mocks will change. they only get judged on their last mock the day before the draft happens.

Sounds like the type of player we look for.

Malcom Brown, DT

STRENGTHS: He definitely passes the eye test with a tall, wide frame and carries his 315-325 pound frame very well, showing easy movement skills. Brown looks natural on his feet with the range and redirection skills to make plays away from the line of scrimmage. Frequently among the quickest off the ball, showing the ability to penetrate and create havoc on behind the line of scrimmage. Brown locates the ball quickly, keeping his eyes up even as he is fighting through multiple blockers and works hard to get to the action, spinning and sliding to get involved. Gets his hands up in passing lanes, showing good body control and timing on his leaps to bat passes down at the line of scrimmage (six over his career). Still developing talent whose best football appears to be ahead of him. The NFL may also appreciate his maturity. Brown is married with two children and volunteered for Adams Angels, an organization for families who have children with cancer or have lost children to cancer.

Again he is a good barometer for value but does not hit players to teams.

Assuming we only sign 1 significant upgrade for the DL in FA, i would take BPA with DL winning any ties or near ties.

He looks really stiff and can't shed blocks at all, even in the running game.

He looks like a massive project to me.

He doesn't look like a good scheme fit to me.

I don't really care who they pick as long as they get good value. If an offensive tackle is the best value take him. Conversely, if a defensive player is the best value take him. But whatever you do don't reach for need or trade just to be cute. You simply have to hit on the first three picks in this coming draft.

Craig

Me too. At that point in the draft, I just want the best player. I am OK with a gamble on a high-risk player too.
