I think I would probably have Sammy Watkins higher...really like that kid, but its hard to argue with anything after just two weeks of the college season.

Shocked to see 4 tackles in the top 10, imagine how crazy last year would have been if Lewan and Matthews decided to enter the draft.

Mel was on with Skip and Stephen A. today flaring his nostrils over the fact Johnny Manziel doesn't belong on the big board right now. Not even if he went to a top 32.

I think he's right. He's only 20 (December) and he's only a Soph. I don't think he could be drafted anyway. He doesn't belong on the board. However, if he were 21 and eligible, I still wouldn't take him in the 1st round. I wouldn't take him in the 2nd round right now.

He's a redshirt sophomore. He's eligible for the draft.

Doesn't matter. You have to be at least 3 years removed from HS. You can red shirt but you would have to have completed your Red Shirt Soph year in order to be eligible. I think that's how it works.

Yeah. When you're a redshirt sophomore you are 3 years removed. He's eligible for the 2014 draft.

My bad. For whatever reason, I saw the 9/13 and didn't put it together. In the next draft, he will be eligible.

Yeah. I think a lot of people put him in the 2nd to 4th round range right now, but with the potential to move up.

Well, I think you can take QB, OLB, S, and G right out of the first round. And if Free plays decent, they definitely aren't going to go guard either.

I didn't realize the Cowboys were so set at G.

One unproven guy with a chronic knee issue and a 36 year old Brian Waters.

We're good.

We need another guard and a tackle somewherein the first 4 rounds.

Oh, I think the Cowboys need more than one G considering the questions with Leary and the age on Waters. Not that it has to come within the first 4 rounds of the next draft.

It took years to get the OL in such bad shape. It'll take years to fix it.

while I agree with you, I could see Jerry saying oline is a strength next year

I didnt say we are set

I said we aren't going to take one in the first round.

I don't know how you can be so sure of that. It looks like a giant need to me. They don't have 1 quality G on the roster they can count on for next year.
Jerry has taken OL in the first round 2 out of the last 3 years. Im pretty sure he hates doing that. I dont see it happening, especially for a guard, this year.

So you're ruling it out because you believe Jerry hates it. But of course if he does hate it, it didn't stop him from using 2 of the last 3 1st round picks on the OL.

I won't pretend to know how he feels about it. I'll just look at it in terms of need and G most definitely should be at the top of that list going into the offseason. Now it's just a question of what's there when we pick.
