Both Mel and McShay have REALLY soured on Barr apparently. If Barr really isn't in play at 16 and we couldn't trade down this would be a nightmare scenario for us. The pick would probably be between Pryor, Mosley, or Shazier

Nightmare scenario?

Really?

This draft is so deep in the first 3 RDS. I've never seen a draft so deep.!

The only way we don't pick up 2 starters immediately in the first 3 picks..

..is if we let Larry Lacewell make the picks.

Oh wait..

is he already doing this and we don't know?

Is it Kiper or some other draft nik that's had us selecting a safety in the 1st round now for what seems like the last 3+ years?

Where was Jernigan? Are they saying that he will not be drafted in the 1st but Ealy, Hageman, and Barr will? Can't see it myself but hey... I'm not jerry

All of the draft experts can have holes punched in their analysis. There is not one superior to any of the others. Not one.

Every year Kiper always freaks out and panics when his draft goes horribly incorrect though. I can remember quite clearly his priceless reactions. Or maybe it is just because he reacts over the top when he does not agree.

Think it would be hard for the Boys to pass on Barr in such a scenario.

- While he undoubtedly needs to continue to develop, his upside is high as an edge rusher.

- He's shown the ability to be able to adapt quickly...going from the offensive backfield ala Melton, to becoming one of the best pass rushers in college as an OLB. That ability to adapt could certainly serve him well in moving to DE with Marinelli & Lett's tutelage.

Another plus...one never knows when Jerry might switch schemes again, and Barr could play OLB in the 3-4 too. :D

Kony ealy will be a bust? If he had run 4.6 in the combine like he did in his pro day then every body will be OK with him at 16. Barr has potential but he could be a bust.if the cowboys are forced to pick at 16 then I would bet they pick Ealy.

Every time you watch tape on Ealy, it's the other DE making the play. And he's a mid round pick. Ealy has the ability to slide inside because of his size. He may be an ok player. But he's not a guy to pick at #16.

What's it going to be then, eh?

It still amazes me how people can consider him a value at #16.

How does Kiper have a job?

The hair. Not his draft boards.

Exactly. Kiper still has a job because he can fall out of bed and give you 5 minutes on camera on most potential draft picks off the top of his head. He can fill air time on cue and on a moment's notice, which is completely independent of his ability to evaluate talent.

You can pick any year he has been on air and make a hilarious booper reel of what he said about players before the draft and then compare it to how reality played out.

I miss reading Joel Bushbaum's (so?) draft stuff.

Buschbaum was awesome, he was the original blogger making good. He did it because he loved it, which lead to his PFW job. He was better than anyone else in the media and it was entirely because he lived and breathed the draft 24/7/365.

Yep! I recall him ALWAYS looking like someone stole his manhood when one of his picks falls, or if someone is taken that surprises him. He gets very offended.

I don't like Mel Kiper, but you can gather the greatest scouts/GMs of all time in every sport and make a blooper reel out of their thoughts on every single player too... For what it's worth even counting last year's whiffs Kiper has one of the most accurate mockdrafts, but it is the final one that matters

Why do you bring up Jones? This is a Kiper discussion, no reason to bring Jones into Kiper's mock

I would take a safety at 16 if there was an elite one in this draft but there isn't. neither clinton-dix nor pryor are anything special and neither are elite in coverage. No way we draft one in the first round, no way
