Just watched this and if we don't lock this guy up to a long term deal this offseason I'm gonna be pissed. People can say he's maxed out his talent, or he's a system QB. Fine. I've yet to see a QB congratulate his OL like that after every good play. He makes a concerted effort to make sure he remains positive and stays humble. You can't ask for a better leader at quarterback.

lol, "high-five party". I enjoy seeing their personalities.

He's hot and cold. But you could say that for the majority of QBs. He's definitely the best option for the Skins, and a good guy on top of that

He reminds me of Jay Fiedler. He's that kind of QB.

He's not a guy that is going to strike fear into the team with his ability to make big plays in big games.

He's just a game manager type.

I'm not a Eli Manning fan but I would take Eli over Cousins.

Cousins is the type of QB you give money too if you're just snake bit at the position and can never get it right but if he were the Cowboys QB i'd be wanting to upgrade because I see no it factor. He runs the offense well though.. But I just don't see a championship caliber QB.

Jay Fielder? Holy crap dude, what are you talking about? Fielder never had a single season as good as Kirk's 2015 season, and this season he's been even better. He's shed the game manager label. Trent Dilfer was a game manager. Name a game manager who could throw for 8 TDs and 0 INT in a five day span.

He is a system QB and he is one of the weakest QB's under pressure. However, I think people underestimate that it is hard to find a system QB and there's good value to a QB that can connect on easier throws or throws where he has more time.

RG3 would stink with the same talent around him because he doesn't have the footwork for it.

The issue with a guy like Cousins is if a key piece goes missing, which tends to happen in the NFL with how high the injury rate is...he's more likely to look like a mediocre QB. Much more than the counterparts that are getting the same money Cousins is asking for.

This season he has a stout O-Line and then a receiving corp of DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, Jamison Crowder, Vernon Davis and Jordan Reed. Crowder and Reed are excellent. Davis looks like he has plenty of tread on the tire and was once an elite TE not too long ago. Jackson is still an elite deep threat and Garcon is a sound Z-receiver. And while the play calling gets goofy at times, the play designs are really superb. It helps to have a QB like Cousins which allows you to run those play designs and get receivers wide open. But, if they aren't open and he's getting pressure, he's one of the worst performers versus pressure in the entire league.

He's an interesting case for sure. I would laugh if went elsewhere because I doubt the Skins will find a performer of his level at QB soon. But if he stays and signs a huge contract, I'll laugh because it doesn't take much for him turn into a lousy QB.

Like I said.. Pay the guy.. 15 mill a year.. It will be great for Dallas.

To me he's a 8-10 mill a year guy.. He's very good at reading a defense and he has a coach that is good at giving him at least 1 option to throw to on any play if he can read the defense.

He'll be a good solid guy for the Commanders but he'll get a salary that restricts the rest of the team and he is not a good enough player to do any real damage without a perfect team around him.

If we're making comparisons, I see Joe Flacco.

Flacco sucks in the regular season and looks like Montana in the post-season. Not a great comparison either, but not nearly as laughable as Jay Fielder. I think he is a notch below elite. The elite QBs like Rodgers and Brady rarely have bad games, while a QB like Cousins can still be forced into inaccurate passes when his OL is allowing consistent pressure. Otherwise, if given just average time in the pocket he'll find the open receiver nearly every time.

15mil a year won't get your a Ryan Fitzpatrick in this market. 20+ million for QBs who perform like Kirk. You'll see in 3 years when it's Dak's turn.

Where on the Commanders do you see a unit that is perfect? Even the offense isn't perfect. We have a barely decent running game to take the pressure off him. And a play caller that telegraphs everything in the redzone. He's a top 10 QB in this league right now, snd thjs is just his second season as the full-time starter getting starters reps with more attention paid to his development in the offseason.

You said you would take Eli over him, yet as a full time starter he's outperformed Eli for two seasons and Eli is the one throwing to one of the top 5 WRs in the league.

Also, we're projected to have 50 mil in cap space this offseason. Giving Kirk a big contract isn't going to restrict us. And the better front offices build through the draft anyway. We don't plan on being be players in the free agency market and haven't been so for years.

Listen.. I know Cousins will have good stats.. He can read defenses and Grudens offense always gets a guy open somewhere underneath coverage but I just don't view him as anything special and anything worth investing a lot of money in.

If I was the Cleveland Browns and I was getting that kind of production from my QB i'd be happy but if I were a team like Washington i'd offer him 10 mill a year take it or leave it.

He's not a special enough player for me to back the money truck up to his door.

He's a average at best player putting up some nice stats but there is nothing special about the guy that warrants 15 mill a year.

He's like a Sam Bradford kind of QB. He's pretty good when he gets hot but at the end of the day he's still Sam Bradford.
