The reports of Bridgewater's demise were impulsive just as the reports of RG3's Hall of Fame bid. Although I wouldn't put Bridgewater in the 'good QB' category just yet.

Bridge water has a foot and a half in the door.

He could really explode this year with Peterson getting 8'in the box.

Anyone remembe that time rg3 acted like the godfather of football when he was consoling romo after a tough loss.

"Keep your head up kid " lol

I clearly remember that conversation they had in the middle of the field. Makes Bob the Turd's downfall that much sweeter.

That's the quote I posted earlier. If not being Commander was bad enough my hatred for him rose after that.

Washington is just a real mess right now. Well, they've been on them to change their name. Maybe they should go with RGIII and the Dumpster Firemen.

14 TD's to 12 INT's isn't really a 'foot and a half in the door.'

It's solid for a rookie, but far from making him a good or great QB.

I think he exceeded expectations last year and since the Minnesota QB situation has been rancid over the years, people tend to go ga-ga over it.

He's still firmly entrenched in the 'to be determined' category with a 'but, I like what I've seen so far' post script. He still has a ways to go to prove to me that he's merely decent. Don't see why he can't get there, but he's simply not there based on his rookie season thus far.

I still remember the "discussions" with Commander trolls telling us how Bob the third was an elite QB and that the "read option" was indefensible

We tried to explain but of course that fell on deaf ears

Ahhhhh..... Memories

You mean when they were talking about him playing for 10-15 years and bringing multiple championships to Ole DC?

You should just copy that so you can paste it 20 more times before people understand it.

It may be guaranteed if he is injured. However, it also guarantees if any team trades for him they will have to release him before next season or he will get that 16 million, unless he chooses to redo it. Which honestly, why would he? Its not like he is going to be starting anywhere and it may be the last large salary he gets any year.

So why trade for a player who you either have to release next year or assume a guaranteed 16 million on if he is on your roster day one of the season? Given his career the answer is, you would not.

Yea I don't expect a trade.

I expect a release after the last preseason game and he is cleared from the concussion.

Cut the losses and move on

Why would the parameters of his extension change because he was traded? I'm asking honestly.

That is one hell of a concession. Might as well walk up to Danny and kick him in the nads then ask how that felt.

Thats life.

Sometimes you trade 2 first round picks for a WR and watch your team go 5-11 three years in a row after the trade.

Sometimes you trade 3 firsts and a 2nd for a QB, win a division, then go right back into the tank that you were in before.

The longer you try and make a bad move work, the worse off you are. Cut the losses, move on, and let the media get back to arguing about the team name (which I predict will come back once the Griffin circus leaves town)

The parameters wouldn't change...

"The injury guarantee would only kick in if a player was unable to play the following season after getting hurt. The option year becomes fully guaranteed on the first day of the league year in the fifth contract year (approximately March 8, 2016 for the 2012 draft class)..."

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...fifth-year-options-for-2012-first-round-picks

Since the Commanders already picked up the option, if he is on a roster under his current contract on march 8th, 2016 the option becomes fully guaranteed. Meaning if a team trades for him they take on the parameters of the deal with an active option year (along with its injury and start of season roster guarantees). So any team that has him must release him prior to the start of the year or they owe him a guaranteed 16 million.

The only way around that would be for RG3 to rework the deal, but he has no reason to do so.

So again I ask, why would a team trade for him knowing they would (1) not play him for risk of guaranteeing the 16 million the following year, or (2) have to release him anyway avoid guaranteeing 16 million on the first day of the 2016 league year?

Short answer, they won't. You are either going to have to cut him or ride they year with him.

You can try to take the sting out of it by comparing it to the Williams trade if you want but Roy didn't bring the team down with him, he just didn't produce as expected. Those wounds are well healed and are in the past, unfortunately for skins fans it will be years until they recover from Bob.
