What do you guys think of this kid?

Is there any type of deal that you think we could swing with Washington to get him.

Honestly, I would love to have him here. He is a very identical mold to Romo. He's mobile, accurate, playmaker.

I would give up a 2nd for him, to be honest. Let him sit behind Romo for a couple years, then jump in. He has what it takes.

Say what you want of RGIII, with the way plays, he is an injury waiting to happen. I doubt very seriously the Skins would entertain trade offers from anyone, let alone Dallas.

Washington needs a good backup with RG3 as lead man. He will 100% for sure be getting hurt. The only question is not whether he will be hurt, but how often. They hope it is only a game or so each season.

Yes, he will be a Free Agent in 3 years.

Very true, I guess we would have to be patient. I know that he would be a perfect replacement for Tony though. Guaranteed.

Traded before that. They need talent to surround RGIII, they will trade Cousins for a nice pick.

It's likely they could get a third, maybe a second.

But if Griffin can't learn to play QB without running all over the place and getting murdered they may be better off just keeping him for the duration - they're going to need him at some point every single year.

More often than not that's what you see happening with these backups who show promise. I think Atlanta got a couple picks for Schaub (very similar situation, he got alot of work behind a running QB who couldn't stay on the field) but by and large the backup just ends up leaving in FA and the fans who were expecting multiple firsts cry in their soup.

If you think Cousins is going to resign in Washington next year you're crazy. He's doing his 2 years and out. I'd think Arizona would be the most likely place... especially if Reid gets the job there. I think a 2nd round pick is probably the right value. Was talking about this today with coworkers.

He signed a 4-year contract.

I love Kirk Cousins and I'm quite familiar with him. I'm a Michigan State alum so I watched Cousins his entire career at MSU. He's a flat out winner. I heard rumors that Garrett wanted to draft Cousins last April. I would easily give up a 2nd for him but there's no way in hell the Skins will trade him to us. They'll hang on to him because it's quite likely that RG3 will miss games due to the way he plays. Cousins did quite well in relief for him this year. In my opinion, the Skins have the best 1-2 QB combo in the NFL.

Agree with those here, Washington will keep him for as long as they can due to RGIII potential injury, and will prefer not to trade him to a division foe, especially the Cowboys. But they will be able to get at least a 2nd rounder for him down the road----maybe even late 1st round to someone desperate not named the Cowboys.

But he may have worked out here.

By the time they trade him, he'll probably only have 1 year remaining on his contract. The new team would be trading a 2nd round pick for a player that was drafted in the 4th round and they would have to sign him to a new contract.

I thought under the new CBA 4th round picks and later were limited to two year deals?

Liked Cousins a lot coming out. I would take him if I had the chance to get him. Heck, offer up Jenkins and see if they bit.

:D

Keeping him or him wanting a starting job will be answered in three years. Shanahan will keep him since he has proven to win games in RG3's absence so it will be the latter. By the time he is a free agent and if Romo hasn't turned around by next year it's possible Dallas would already have their guy in place by then.

I think a Matt Flynn deal would be more realistic than Cousins at this point.

5/31/2012: Signed a four-year, $2,572,688 contract. The deal included a $472,688 signing bonus. 2012: $390,000, 2013: $480,000, 2014: $570,000, 2015: $660,000, 2016: Free Agent

The deadskins will never trade Cousins to us. If we were the one that had cousins, I dont think we would trade to them either. We just have to draft our own QB and hope he matures into a fine QB.

His arm is weak.

They won't trade him in the division.

The one quarterback we can presume isn't on RG3's level is Kirk Cousins.

Ask yourself, is Kirk Cousins elite/headed to the Hall of Fame? I haven't seen enough of him to say no. But that's the standard, if you're serious about championships.
