If the Cowboys lose against Jacksonville this week (and I’m hoping we don’t), what would prevent our awesome coach from starting McGee? I have a feeling Kitna won’t last behind this line anyway.

Even though I'd like to see what McGee has--if we start him, then we are REALLY screwed. I wanna see what Kitna has before we tank the season.

Say what you will about Kitna, but he's not scared to make a play and definitely gives his WRs a chance.

McGee was fighting to make the team this summer he looked good in the last preseason game where everyone was playing their scrubs. He's not even close to being ready for regular season action.

How will we know when he is ready for the regular season?

Given that we play at Green Bay and at the Giants after J-Ville, McGee will probably have to play out of necessity at some point.

Exactly. Romo is the starter next year. Don't we wanna find out of McGee is the backup for this team for the future? I'm sorry, but Kitna is not winning 9 of 10 behind this OL.

McGee will benefit most by dressing as the backup and being on the sdelines learning from Kitna.

The Dullphins played their starters the entire first half of the last pre-season game against the Cowboys. McGee's bomb came against their starting CB, with their starting D-line and linebackers on the field.

And Hurd is not a starter, nor any of the O-linemen who were on the field in that game.

When he looks ready during camp and the entire preseason. Camp reports on him weren't very good all he did was check down and wasn't getting the ball down the field. He did that in every preseason game except the last one when he played the entire game against scrubs. He still doesn't see things quick enough and the Cowboys have a tough schedule ahead. Kitna started looking better as the game went on last night and I feel alot more comfortable with an experienced vet than a young QB who barely made the team and hasn't yet taken a regular season snap.

Don't play McGee until he is ready.

It's not worth it in the long run.

Third-string quarterback Stephen McGee also boosted the club's confidence, throwing a perfect 43-yard touchdown pass to Sam Hurd against Miami's starting defense, then leading Dallas on the winning drive in the final 2 minutes.

Isn't that what got Brett Favre in trouble?

Naaa.. he got in trouble because he's so in love with it that he just had to send pictures to his girlfriend to show it off..

What better time would McGee have to show if he can play in this league ?

What better time for McGee to get on the field than right now. Kitna and Romo would be great on the sidelines for him. I think if this game is lost against Jacksonville, it's time for him to play. I think his youth and mobility may give some confidence to the team.

There's a decent chance that Kitna will get hurt before the end of the season and McGee will get playing time, ready or not.

Within the next 4 or 5 games, I'd start McGee.

Rookie QBs start in this league. McGee should be ready for playing time by now. If he isn't, it is time to rethink his roster spot.
