......It's gonna come down to what we do it free agency and if we can keep the majority of our guys.....We got some nice pieces that teams are gonna try and pillage.
Right. If we bring back all the same cast and expect the same result, ain't no coach going to make a difference. I'm all for keeping Dowdle as a complementary back and getting a game-changer to pair with him. We need to get a No. 2 receiver who is a threat instead of thinking, hey, we traded a fourth for Mingo and Tolbert had one almost 100-yard game, so we're all right.
I actually feel pretty good about the offensive line, although I'm also in favor of upgrades. The only thing I'd like to see on the offensive line is us being willing to give players like Richards a shot at starting at left tackle and consideration for having Guyton compete with Steele at right tackle. I'd view it as:
LT - Richards vs. Tyler Smith (with Smith only being an option if Richards proves to be shakey)
LG -Tyler Smith vs. Richards (Richards looked quite good last preseason at left guard, so I think we should make the left side a battle between these two)
C - Beebe vs. Hoffman
RG - Hoffman vs. Bass, with Beebe an option
RT - Guyton vs. Steele (if Guyton surpasses Steele, I'd trade Steele at the end of camp)
I'd also give Waletzko a chance to prove himself at LT. I think we did him a disservice moving him to the right side, where he struggled. I also would be OK with bringing Chuma Edoga back as a backup as long as we don't stick him at LT.
But if Dallas wants to improve the line, I would not be against it. I think we just have other spots more in need of fixing in the early rounds. I mean, we've spent two of our past three first-round picks on OL.
