Can we trade down and get jeanty still?
No one knows how the draft will go and certainly not the media guys putting out these mock drafts, but I would be surprised if we could. If you want Jeanty you take him at 12. My guess is he goes somewhere right around where we are picking

I like this hire. He's basically a great OL coach. Cards were top 5 in rushing and in pass protection the past 2 years...... and go check out their OL personnel. I've never heard of any of them. They have no pro bowlers. So, by making him the OC, we stole one of the best OL coaches in the NFL. It was a smart hire.
Spot on in my opinion.

I like the hire based on his background and reported expertise. Let's temper the expectations on what he will do with the rushing attack in Dallas. You have to consider they had Kyler Murray running around and the threat that he adds, which makes it easier for the RBs to find seams. Unless Dallas is rolling with a new QB, that threat simply does not exist. Again, solid hire.

I did giggle at "imagine that with Brock Hoffman"

Note I actually like Hoffman and think he has a chance to be a decent starter in this league, but the "imagine that" was a little over the top...
Broaddus recently said that he likes Hoffman for five games more than he does 17 games. I have to agree with that. The more teams see him or he gets wore down the less effective he looks.

Eh, when you play the cardinals, you gear up for the run anyway b/c Kyler is more dangerous as a runner than a passer. So, that's why you look at the cards rushing attack and pass protection number for more than one season. This coaches OL's consistently play above their talent level. It's very difficult to get one of the better OL coaches in this league b/c it's not normally a position you see promoted to OC. So, these coaches tend to stay under contract and you can't poach them unless you do what we did in making him the OC.

how come?
I'll certainly wait and see how things play out, but both Schottenheimer and Eberflus are the both more continuity hires, and Jerry hiring guys he is comfortable with has been a major issue here for years now. Klayton Adams is the 1st hire that gives me some hope that we might be serious about making actual changes to the offense. Nothing against either Schotty or Eberflus personally, but the reason they were hired is my concern.

I still think the most important piece is going to be what is done over the offseason to upgrade the roster though.

If they plan on taking two RB’s, they MUST spend money in FA because they just have too many holes to fill from just the draft, let alone using 2 picks on RB
No need to draft 2. Draft 1 then priority UDFA the other. With 35 backs with draftable grades I'm confident another UDFA can be had just as good or better than Rico. Not aa position we need to drop ,9 mil on in FA this year

Can a nfl offense be dumbed down anymore than it already is. He’s just another in a long list that will bite the bullet with an inept QB.

No one knows these guys or how it’s going to go, but I do like this much….

I’d wager anything that Jerry Jones has no idea who these guys are, so he is letting Shoddy pick his staff. It’s better than retreads that have already proven to be meh at best.

But again, the most important part happens in March….player acquisition. If Stephen wants to continue to save a buck, none of it matters. You’ll hear a lot of “wow, what a great hire” on these coaches if they have the right players.

This teams shortcomings are on the front office. Not exactly news but I said it anyway lol.

Exactly! I don’t even know what I want to see. If they do actually add a decent FA or two, they probably still aren’t a championship contender, whereas if they opened their eyes and did that 2-3 years ago before all the depth walked out the door, it could have made a difference. Frustrating either way.

I’ve heard their crap too many times. Taking a “long hard look” at anything always results in what they are doing is fine and needs no change.

I can already give the media their quote when FA begins……”well, we have Parsons coming up, and Smith to think about.” Maybe take a small shot at Dak as well. Honestly, if the guy signed for 50m instead of 60, what would really be different?

I agree. For two years now I've been hoping they would go the rebuild route, but Jerry continues to double down on his roster. I do think with a few solid FA signings, hit on 1-2 starters in the draft they could easily see themselves back in the playoffs a year from now. I remain skeptical they can truly make a run though. It seems like right now we are just trying to get back to the 2021-2023 results.

This is why I feel as if the multi headed GM thing is a problem.

It seems to result in half measure approaches. I mean….either do all you can to try to win or rebuild. Pick a side. They are in neither spot. Jerry doesn’t want a full rebuild but Stephen doesn’t want to do what’s necessary to win….or isn’t capable.

Bottom line is they had their shot and they blew it, which is what finally pushed me over the edge. Even when their draft only approach gets them into contention mode, they don’t understand what’s needed to get over the hump.

Trying to hang on to what’s left of those hollow 12 win seasons (11–1 against Wash/NY in those years) is going to cause them to run this right into the ground. It’s coming.

The Dallas Cowboys are hiring Derrick Foster as their new RBs coach, multiple sources tell @startelegram.

Foster, 38, served the same role for the New Orleans Saints in 2024 and for the Los Angeles Chargers from 2021-2023, overseeing Austin Ekeler’s rise.

An important hire for Schottenheimer going into a critical 2025 draft cycle at the running back position.
