Knowing we're good enough to still be playing, I can't enjoy this Sunday

Our defense wasn't good enough to be playing this Sunday. :(
And, as much as I love Romo, he's not Aaron Rodgers. If you'll notice, the top quarterbacks in the league (Rodgers, Brady, Luck) or the team with a super defense (Seahawks) are playing. Romo can get us up to a certain point. But we needed help from our defense and didn't get it.
So while I think we could have been playing, the post-season really shows you the value of your units - both offensively and defensively. And while we overachieved, practically speaking, we finished where we should have as a team. We're a notch below Green Bay and Seattle. But I expect us to push pass them next year, if we make all the right moves.

Romo was the best rated QB this season even better than Rogers. Your silly to say that were a notch below Seattle and Green Bay when we already beat Seattle and the refs gave the game to Green Bay at Lambeau. If you like Rogers that much then you should cheer for Green Bay.

Extremely poor QB play from everyone except for Tom Brady. A ton of bad reads by the QB.

If Romo had a game that Rodgers, Wilson, or Luck had, thats all i would hear about. These QBs today looked like rookies. I also love how after the game they put up a stat that howed Russell Wilson is 10-0 against superbowl winning QBs- just goes to show that his TEAM is 10-0 against them- he was thoriughly outplayed in what may have Rodgers' worst game in the last three years.

And on another note- this is only my 4th time seeing Andrew Luck play, but i am seriously not impressed. I wonder how much his stats are inflated from playing in the worst division in football. the AFC was a JOKE this year.

That best rating thing I feel will be an argument point for a solid 5 years around here.

I thought the game was highly entertaining. Wilson played like a high school QB for most of the game, but stepped up late. Refs were not a factor in this game; GB botched it fair and square...

If Romo would have played like Wilson for the first 55 minutes of that game, the Cowboys would have been down 4-5 TD's with no chance of a miracle comeback. It's nice to have a defense so your QB doesn't have to be perfect.

If the season concluded in the regular season, your point would be valid. But the season doesn't end in the regular season. And YES we were a notch below Seattle and Green Bay. Otherwise, we would have been playing in the NFC Championship Game.

And, no, I can like Rodgers and still be Cowboys fan. I just don't have to drink the Kool-Aid and think that Cowboys' poop smells like Danish pastries. ;)

And hell yes the Colts would be in the AFC Championship if their QB was Romo.

Nav22:

I normally love your takes, however I can't let this one pass without an obligatory "you are a being a homer" response.

I think Romo is a great QB and he just had his greatest year but you are fooling yourself if you think Romo would have enabled the Colts to beat the Patriot on Sunday.

We know what teams led by Romo look like without a running game, without a offensive line, and with a poor defense. That's the Colts. Reference the 2006-2013 Cowboys. None of those teams advanced to the conference championship game and many of those teams didn't even make the playoffs.

I said Romo would've gotten the Colts to the AFC Championship, I never said they'd win the AFC Championship game itself.

I misread the post -- and thought you indicated Romo would have allowed them to win that game.

My bad.

Edit: I haven't had my coffee yet. These things happen.:)
