Kornhieser OUT from MNF *Merged*

I liked Gruden during the NFL Draft on NFL network. He always had good things to say about the Cowboys. Great, Great news, there is hope for MNF.

Kornio wasn't that bad, he just didn't fit, he's better on PTI though where it's not serious

Great news. Korny was absolutely horrible.

Maybe ABC/ESPN is actually getting the message. Last year there weren't as many idiotic celebrity interviews during the game, and now they're eliminating the "everyman"who dumbed everything down for everyone.

The ABC cross-marketing was the worst. I understand they're looking to draw in a bigger demographic, but it escapes me that they don't realize how badly they dilute the broadcast when they bring in celebrities to talk about projects during key third-quarter drives.

I didn't watch ESPN at all last year if I could help it, so I don't know how bad their coverage really was, but Kornholer was about as annoying as it gets. He wasn't interesting, he wasn't funny, and he wasn't very bright. Was it two years ago that they had the audio technical difficulties during their PTI segment during halftime and he and Wilbon carried on even though they couldn't hear each other's point/counterpoint? What a joke.

Odd, a fear of flying never stopped John Madden from doing games. :laugh2:

Not sticking up for the man cause I couldn't stand him on MNF. However, all Madden did was call MNF games. Kornhieser has a TV show, radio shows, and writing for the Washington Post as well as the MNF gig. He couldn't sit on a bus for 3 or 4 days driving from place to place, so its not really fair to compare that aspect. Now whether or not Kornhieser is any good at his other outlets is a matter of debate. In the end though, whatever the reason I'm not heatbroken that he is gone.

Oh Thank God!

Gruden is going to be awesome. Even moreso if you take into consideration that his presence means that Kornholio is going to be gone back to DC where he crawled from.

:hammer:

You would think they would hire someone who probably be not back in coaching in a year or two.

Maybe someone like Tony Dungy would be a good choice although I don't know if Tony would want to do something like that and even if he didn't maybe they think he is too subdued.

Oh well...at least it is someone who is an actual football person and not some comedian or talk show host.

shrug. Gruden will suck too. (well probably anyway)

At least he will know something about football instead of babbling on about nothing

MNF and it's selection of sidekicks for the broadcasts in the last several years reflects a management that clearly has no idea what they're doing...I mean, how hard is it really to find someone competent for the booth?

Tony Kornheiser simply reflected the agenda, nepotism and issues other than the actual quality of the broadcast that was at work...Thankfully, Tony is gone but I suspect it won't be the last time an idiot who has no place in that position will once again be up there

I seriously could not stand Kornholio that guy annoyed like no other. Gruden did well covering the draft, I see a huge upgrade.
(no more need to mute the tv Mon. night! )

have you seen Tony Dungy be interviewed? I don't know how anyone could come up with that watching him, he's pretty lively, although he doesn't carry on and huffaw like an idiot, which is good

Super, Super, News!!!

Getting Gruden is gravy... Hope he brings some excitement to that booth.

Awesome

Gumble was worse. Thankfully, they're both gone.

Boomer Esiason was the worst ever. He was absolutely terrible.

I like John Gruden, I also think this is a short time fix, I think he will be coaching next year also.

I didnt like the lineup at all.

I did like how Korny called out Jaws for flip flopping all the time or when he couldnt believe what Jaws said or believed and replied "REALLY?????, you believe that"

Agreed. It was nice to have somebody on the show call the guy on his inconsistencies and overstatements. Just to hear that made the rest of his shtick bearable to me.
