Kris Jenkins Trade?

The Panthers report that Kris Jenkins did not show up for a voluntary mini-cap and Drew (next question) Rosenhaus reported yesterday that he still feels that Jenkins is still going to get traded, which would fare well for his client as the next D-tackle in line to start in Jenkins place and in the last year of his contract.

Kris Jenkins has had weight issues and "sources" say that he is WELL over his listed 335lbs. and could be close to 375-380. Wow! He has about three years left on his contract that pays around $3 mil a season.

Aside from the weight issues (he still has made the Pro Bowl every year he was healthy, even last season), I think he will be a great pick up as a nose tackle with Fergie. He will be a huge hole plugger and may be the final piece to the puzzle. I think he needs a change of scenary and Dallas would be a great place to start new. He is still very young at 27 and could be a force here for years to come.

I know there will be alot of you who think his weight is too much to take on but the guy can be a monster on the line and was considered the top D-tackle in the league before the injuries.

I think he is worth a third round pick. I know the Panthers wanted a first and thats why he is still on their team but a third round pick and they will take it!

No way would I give up a Day 1 pick for this guy. He's not even going to be in the league two years from now.

Depends on his health, contractural issues, and how bad a team wants or needs him.

I thought we needed a NT. We do under a Parcells scheme. Apparently Wade thinks we don't. Jerry is not the deciding factor about another NT. This has to be a Wade decision for the most part.

I'd say we go with what we have. Sounds as if he would have problems getting the weight down and getting into shape. 50 lbs is a lot when you're trying to lose fat only.

Who would you rather have Doug Free or Kris Jenkins? I understand that Free hasn't proven anything yet, but I have a feeling that Jenkins is done, too many injuries the past few seasons. Casey Hampton who came out in the same draft, I'd give up a 2nd for.

The best question to ask is.....does he fit our scheme? If not, this isn't worth discussing because he isn't a option. I'd be surprised if we made a play for him.

I would think Phillips could get a healthy jenkins to fit no question.

he came back from a knee injury that kept him out of the previous 2 seasons and played all 16 games last year. He didnt play as well and was out of shape. That being said it takes 2 years to come back form knee injuries fully.

If our dcotors could get a look at ihim and we could get him for a 2nd day pick it would be worth a look.

What makes anyone think a simple change of teams is going to make this guy suddenly get his act together?

from what ive read, jenkins wants out of carolina and rosenhaus and he have been working towards that for a long time now. it wouldnt be the first time a player left a team and played well in greener pastures.

Kris Jenkins was/is the only "find" I've ever had watching Senior Bowl tapes, but if you go back to the 2001 Senior Bowl, you see this powerful nimble guy who really handled himself well. But you gotta remember he only produced for one year of his college years. Motivation is the reason he wasn't a first round choice and you have to ask if he'll have the motivation to keep up with the training necessary to be an elite athlete.

He has to give a care. If he doesn't, you're just wasting a draft pick. If we're interested, we'd have to interview him and do so closely.

David.

No thanks...I'm not interested in giving up draft picks for older vets...not yet.

We need to continue building with young, healthy players...if we win a couple of playoff games and are convinced we're very close, then maybe I make a trade for a vet. in the future....not now.

If we are talking overpriced DTs on the trading block, I would much rather go after Shaun Rogers.

Wow. You must really like him. Are you aware of where he went to college?

Lets add fire to the rumor blaze here..........how bout' B. James in a swap......an area of somewhat overabundance for us,

Jenkins, in condition, could actually back up, in addition to Nose, could be an extra DE in a pinch......

we talk about OL being valued by thier ability to back up several spots along the line, here is a chance to do the same on the DL........

Any trade value to our DE as pre-season ends.......pretty good possiblilty......quality def. Lineman are always in demand.

Can Ratliff do a quality job backing up Fergie, vrs. Jenkins.........then its all a mute point. Stanley is too far off to depend on. Nose Tackle position should not hold us hostage in an injury situation w/ Fergie

That isn't really the point. We would just have to make due for this season.

Who here thinks Ferguson will be our 2008 NT?

We need to start grooming his replacement. Or acquire it.

And no, as promising as Ratliff is, he's not it.

Nor are the two other pillocks we have.

We should leave the signing of over the hill FA's to the Commanders...Our Defensive line will be just fine this year w/o him...

You have to ask yourself why Carolina is so desperate to take a huge cap hit to get rid of this guy. Answer? He's finished, and they want his long term base salary off the books for the future. And it's not knee problems, its a chronic shoulder injury (hello, Tony Bosselli). Its not just about injuries, its the fact that he just isn't willing or motivated to put in the effort required of a professional athlete. There's also rumored to be major alcohol issues involved as well. He sets a horrible precedent in the lockerroom ... get fat, half arse it, skip meetings, and cash your huge checks you got from the one year you played like you actually cared. He's already retired, he just hasn't bothered to tell anyone. You guys willing to throw away a Day 1 pick in the garbage for this guy need to realize that 2005 was a long time ago and things change. Ask Quincy Carter.
