Kris Richard coaching up DB's

Byron Jones trailing 5 yards behind his man, per usual. But he's... athletic.. and stuff

I am excited to have Richard though!

Lol, amazing when someone doesn’t understand the game. No cb is ever more than a few yards on their man it’s wihere’s they are when the ball is released. Another thing, they could be work on zone techniques, he may have been forcing the player to a spot. Do we have to be negative about everything, it’s a 10 second clip in t-shirt and shorts:rolleyes:

I’ve been excited for Richard. Big move and can make our d a lot better. Marinelli is leaving I think after this season. It’s kris for the taking.

It's pretty pathetic we just now have a DB coach emphasizing the fundamentals of getting your head turned around to locate the football, that's stuff you learn in pee-wee. Hopefully this technique carries over to Sundays so it's not another year of corners face guarding wide receivers with no clue the ball is in the air.

Definitely a good point. I'm curious to see how Brown does this year. His rookie year, he played pretty well and I noticed he was our only DB that consistently turned his head to locate the ball, but that aspect was largely gone from his game last year. I wondered throughout the season if that was something he changed on his own or was it coached out of him. looked like a different player.

Richards was a fantastic hiring. Probably one of the few things that actually got me exciting during the offseason. I really wish I could be as excited about the guys looking over Dak's shoulder.

With our QB and receivers he's gonna think our DBs are all kinds of awesome.

And then the games start.

What makes you suggest this is new here? You weren’t happy with the way the rookie DBs developed last season?

No I wasn't. It reminded me of Brown the year before. They were getting by on pure talent and athleticism. We see what AB did his second year. Watch how good these guys will be with real coaching.

I expect them to continue on the same upward trajectory we’ve seen so far. I was just surprised by the criticism since it’s literally the first criticism I remember seeing of those young guys since the season actually ended. I would have thought everybody agreed they came in, acclimated well to the system, and played pretty well last year, getting better with reps like you’d expect.

I agree with all of that. But I keep thinking that so did Brown the exact same way. What caused his slump?

i think it was what was aluded to..A guy with 4.35 speed thinking that would make up for bad tech...He Alternated with scandy in the slot, but it looked like he got burned outside several times..I cant say for certain..

Thank God CZ has football geniuses, like you, to tell everyone that they know nothing about football :starspin:such invaluable insight

I love the Richard signing...that being said, I would LOVE to see the entire DB group come in to practice/work out/etc together when there isn't a mini-camp/OTA/scheduled "be there" time...not an indictment, just something I would love to see, might make me feel even better about this position group and I am already high on them

Big difference with Richard is he wants CB attacking the WR at the line of scrimmage to throw the timing of the pass routs off however if Richards stays true to what he was doing in Seattle he will still be using a good mixture of Zone and man coverages.
