what this means is its broken and I have no idea how to fix it per usual for jones cowboys
No way to know exactly who is in charge of what.
Richard calls the plays but I don't know if he would use the same DL or front 7 defensive concepts if Marinelli was gone.
Watch some film from KRs SHawks days.
Legion of Boom doesn't play BBDB.
We gotta process and a work in progress.
When Richard was the DC in Seattle, they played mostly the same zones we see now and straight up with 4 man fronts................ little man defense, little blitzing, etc.
He's calling the defenses here. It's been well reported and again you can literally see him during games calling in the plays.
I can agree with that point about the DL alignments and concepts and even personnel might be different.
That being said, if you look at Ricard's time as DC in Seattle, they weren't a heavy blitz team either, instead relying on mostly 4 man rushes.
My gut (hope, I would guess is more accurate) if this staff survived by Marinelli was done, Richard would put more of an emphasis on acquiring real DTs, but who knows.

According to Pro Football Focus, the Seahawks blitzed just 22 percent of the time (PFF judges a blitz as any time a defense rushes more players than it has on its line, so meaning five or more in a 4-3, which is Seattle’s most common alignment).
That was tied with the Eagles for the fifth-lowest blitz percentage in the NFL ahead of only the Chargers, Jacksonville, Bengals and Bills (and, yes, it’s interesting that two other defenses that are similar in philosophy to Seattle’s — the Chargers (where former Seattle DC Gus Bradley is the coordinator) and Jaguars (where former Seattle assistant Todd Wash runs the defense), were below the Seahawks, at 19 and 21 percent, respectively. Atlanta, where another former Seattle DC, Dan Quinn, is the head coach, was just above the Seahawks at 23 percent.
i.e. Marinelli hates the blitz. KR likes to blitz [based on Legion of Boom]
Marinelli wants to play BBDB. KR wants to use pressure and 4-2-5 blitzes.
This defense is wrecking our season.
Again.
From your article.......
You basically proved my point. No one said they never blitzed or were aggressive. But over the course of the season, they were not an uber aggressive team in Seattle playing a lot of man and bringing blitzes.
Did you even read the article?
yes. I kind of agree with some of your post.
Interesting article.
It looks like KR likes to blitz, but not excessive. 22 percent isn't bad.
I'd be interested to see what Marinelli's percentage is.

Doesn't that further the point that Rod is calling the plays and not Richard? If he's been claimed the DC in Dallas, why did he have such a high blitz percentage in Seattle but not here? Is it possible that Rod calls some defensive plays?

I'll say it again, a bit louder this time.......................
RICHARD DID NOT BLITZ A LOT IN SEATTLE.
