Just heard from a Texans member who told me Coach Kubiak has informed coaches he has been let go
Again, Texans assistants have been informed by Coach Kubiak that he has been fired. Coach told them he loves them but has been let go

Been told that the crews will continue to work on fields here at Valley Ranch in hope of practicing on Saturday.

Weird timing in week 14. They have someone on staff already they're considering for the gig?

I wonder who will be the interim HC, Wade Phillips?

Anyways, not too surprised after losing 11 in a row.

Probably not, but Wade Phillips is gonna run the ship in the interim, I'm sure. Please tell me you see the irony in this.

I guess Wade moves up. Not that it matters.

I'd take a good hard look at Kubiak as OC. Some team will.

Bob McNair "This has been a very disappointing year. We started with such high hopes. To have this string of losses is unacceptable."
McNair "We normally would wait until end of year to evaluate our staff, under these extreme circumstances thought best to start process now.
Wade Phillips will be interim coach.
McNair "One of advantages of taking action now is we can start process to find new head coach. The process is under way."
McNair "Some of people we'll visit with are in coaching situations now, so this will be held on a confidential basis."
McNair "We're disappointing and shocked by what's happen. Our fans are disappointed. I want to thank Gary. He brought team to new level."
McNair "Gary helped us win 2 division titles. He put everything into it. It's disappointing he's not going to be with us in the future."
McNair "We've got to turn this around. We want a winning culture. Our goal is to win last 3 games. We're going to do everything to win."
McNair "It's based more on the individual. We're looking for a coach who's bright, ethical, innovation and is able to make adjustments."
McNair said records show def coordinators are more successful than off coordinators "but not by much."
McNair "We'll give Wade an opportunity to interview for the position as well as a number of other people."
McNair "The last straw was losing. We've got a lot more talent than Jacksonville, but they played better and smarter."
McNair (meeting) "was difficult for me cause I think so much of Gary. We're thankful for the job he's done for us."

Rick Smith "We've been together almost 18 years, and there's a lot of history with Gary. I have tremendous respect for him."
Smith "We've got to right the ship. We've got to move forward. We have 3 more games to evaluate every player, coach and process."
Smith "We haven't been productive over the last 11 weeks and we have to find out why."

Bob McNair , Cal McNair and Rick Smith. Owner says he wanted to wait until after season but extreme circumstances.

Briles or Sumlin

.
You may be right.

Is it against NCAA rules for a college coach to talk or accept another job while their season is ongoing?

My dad has seriously heard Sumlin's name being tossed around.

.

It's a joke...settle down Baylor and Aggy fans.

Well, it'll be interesting to see Wade with another chance to right the ship. We get a lot of posters suggesting Jason benefitted from a 'dead cat bounce' when he took over in 2010. I'd say that cat in Houston is about as dead as it gets right now. Good luck, Texans fans. :)

How about if Kyle stays on and gets promoted to HC after Mike is gone?

Two side things: 1. Fantastic Avatar. One of the best Christmas Movies ever! 2. As much as I want the whole lot of them run out of town tied to a chair on a train, old west style...the nagging thought I can't get by is: What if Kyle is the next Bruce Arians? Run out of Pitt to being very successful at two stops? I mean--he's taking the Cardinals to the playoffs (almost)!

Back on topic--Houston would be fools not to chase the guy I really want to all ends of the Earth in Darrell Bevell.

I'm surprised at the timing but not the result. You can't survive 11 losses in a row.

Houston is going to be very appealing. The pieces needed to be a top 5 defense (currently 3rd in ypg, but like 29th in ypg) an offense with potential, and a game and a half lead for the #1 pick with 3 games left. I can see Bill Cowher and Jon Gruden giving serious thought to taking a job in Houston, not to mention guys like Lovie Smith and Ken Wisenhunt who will be looking to get back into coaching.

The owner said this is not about rebuilding. He's expecting a KC type hire. Get a guy in there who can get immediate results like Reid did.
