Kurt Warner on Dak

He says all the right things. but lets break things down.

Dallas muffed the whole Zeke situation.

The team was a mess if certain players went down.

Dallas didnt build the offense around Dak.

Lets hope and i think it has, that JG has things going in the right direction. We got new coaches to be excited about. So far they are already helping the team. I believe we ll have some warts, what team doesnt, but lets hope we can cover them better. Lets also not run from them and do the best we can.

Stay focused on what works, JG has a habit of taking something that works and stop doing it. Lets hope if he sees something working, he sticks with it.

Also the team has to attack attack attack, before JG would play to his opponent. he has to play to the highest caliber the team can play too, if that means you over some teams, but he has to deal wth that.

Each of the new coaches coming in are laying down a new culture. Im excited over that. Get rid of all the previous bad, lay down new foundations and lets go forward.

Dallas had a good off season, lets hope they continue with it. We ll know by early Sept.

Interesting take and I agree. Prescott got thrown in and it takes time to build around him simply because that wasn't the goal when he was 3rd string.
Just like Romo or any QB, they need specific players that fit his game.
How anyone can bash on a 2 year QB is beyond me. You would think fans would be a little more thankful to find a QB who's 22 and 10.

Evolving doesn't require cleaning house...as the foundation alone.

it does when your past mistakes keep popping up. The best thing to do is clean the culture and get rid of the bad, or else you have to keep dealing with the same problems.

Thats why you seen SanJay and Kris go back to the basics and were teaching new things. It was great to see.

problem is, your foundation is Jerry
and Jerry no likey

Sorry, guy...this is the big leagues and adults. If they can't handle a Jerry environment, they shouldn't be in Dallas.

I don't use Jerry as my personal whipping boy, and if he truly is yours, find another team...or cry at home.

It’s sad that fans can hate on a young qb that is as impressive as dak is.

I’m as critical as anyone. But I pick on guys that are marginal at best.
Fans are not hating on Dak Prescott the man, they are hating on Dak Prescott the QB...Big difference. I think the kid is totally fantastic as a human being, I am not convinced that he has the tools necessary to be a totally fantastic QB...This year should tell all who was wrong and who was right.

nah i dont
he said to clean house
you said you dont have to clean the foundation (i think)
my point is Jerry will always control the foundation as long as his health allows

There are people who hate, then there are people who point out legitimate flaws and concerns and people conflate that with hate. Seriously, for every hater there is just as many rose-colored observers of Dak. We need to start working on that grey area. Dak is not bad, Dak is not great. Dak is good for where he was drafted and his ability to limit turnovers. He does have a lot to work on (especially if we're thinking about making him our franchise QB), hopefully this off-season he put in that work.

I hope he exceeds all expectations and lights the world on fire. Not gonna hold my breath though.

Son, you have poor listening skills and even worse recognition skills. Not close to stated post(s)...but that doesn't phase yourself. Good night now...

For starters, he already is the franchise quarterback...and Tony Romo then retired. As to proving his value, he already has quite a bit of positive stats and recognition as well. To be a top shelf leader, the team has to fully support that role.

He is not a Rodgers or Brady...and everything evolving around him solely. He has a running game, a good one, and the make up of this team is around toting the pigskin and timing pass routes.

We shall see how the team evolves, but this fan isn't transferring doubt to the shoulders of Prescott. Sorry, he or Jerry, neither one, are my whipping boys for Monday Morning Quarterback's Club.

Exactly. Just like the Romo hate early on, that he brought on himself btw. Fans get defensive about the qb position. But Dak the qb has people nervous for a reason. Dak the person seems like a good guy.

No bigger fan of Romo than myself. But I gotta say,.....I REALLY like Dak. Year three is going to be big for him IMO

It's not a one or the other thing for me. I'm huge fan of both.

I think Romo was one of those QBs who could have led a team to the SB. Inattention to defense prevented him from doing that some years, but I also believe that Tony and his O could have been good enough to carry the team through that with just a little help from the offensive design. Tony and the Cowboys offense were good but a better offensive architect would have allowed Tony to be truly elite, IMHO.

I think Dak has demonstrated that he can play the position of starting QB in the NFL and play it well, and you couldn't ask for a better front man for your team. But he needs to show us that he is the guy who lined up under center in 2016 and not the guy from the second half of last year. For me he doesn't need to play like an MVP this season but he needs to be better. He needs to be not only the leader for whom guys will run through a brick wall but also a leader who lifts his team by performing excellently on the field, game in and game out, and from me he gets the benefit of some time to become that. He wants to and works hard to make it happen, and I believe wholeheartedly that he will.

So I agree with Warner. I have high expectations for Prescott and I'm always a wait and see kind of critic, and at this point I'm not doubting.
