Kyle Orton: "The decision"

How was this a story if him retiring was never a consideration?

I'd like to know where this rumor originated from as well. Seemed to come out of nowhere.

Orton was 30-46, 358 yards, 2 TD's, 2 INT's
He play very well.
I seen people say he played not to lose, as opposed to play to win. Seems he played to win to me.

Yea I was shocked by his aggressiveness he played with and the way the OC allowed for it. I loved it. It put us in position to win. We didn't. Surely wasn't Orton's fault. And i'd love to bring him back.

I agree and the fans ran with it. Unless i'm missing a article or something i've never heard any9one from Orton's camp or Orton himself say he was thinking about retiring. He has a pretty good gig here. Sit back and wait for Romo to get hurt. He's younger than Romo. Never got it.

Last INT aside, he played pretty damn well, for coming in COLD to start a big game at the end of the season.

I thought he was retiring? If not, we should have tried to get him back. I would take him over Weeden any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

The issue is and remains: Why not just tell Jerra yes or no?
Also, Orton knows that Jerra half to prepare for a season and need to know who his qB backup will be? Orton played it like a coy child and that chaps my lips.

It's an interesting case. I thought Orton did the best he could... and he really did come out with the full offense at his disposal, not some watered down, "try not to lose it" offense/approach. He was aggressive and confident. But...

... the reason you do pay a backup what we paid Orton is because he supposedly could "win you that one game if you need it" as opposed to the average bench warming backup. And the chance was there, which was shocking given how rotten the defense was last year. Now I'm the last guy to say QBs win and lose games by themselves. But Orton did throw the ball to the other guy at the end there. At least he made a life-long friend in Romo, as he took one for Tony in the media's made up "win or go home" obsession...

Meh...overpaid bench warmer. This team lives and dies on Romo. Orton's outing for us was just like the rest of his career.

Orton played very well in his only outing. In fact, he was very Romoesque.

Perhaps, but if he goes down, the season is over anyway. And Weeden is no worse than Orton is.

Why's that? Season came down to the wire with Orton last year, there was not a huge drop off in QB play when he took over for the last game. Not factoring in QB, the rest of this offense is probably a top 5 group in the entire league. There's way too much support and talent around Orton should he have to come in for me to give up on the season. Dude can play.

Top 5 offense not factoring in our QB? Are we looking at the same roster? Lol.

WR - Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams, Cole Beasely, Dwayne Harris

TE - Jason Witten, James Hannah, Gavin Escobar

RB - DeMarco Murray, Lance Dunbar, Joseph Randle

There's no way we have a top 5 offense, heck you're stretching it if you say we have a top 10 offense. In my opinion, I'd say last year they played like an average offense, maybe slightly above average. We definitely have potential on our offense, but it's probably gonna take some time before we really see it shine.

Wouldn't be surprised if he is cut on the final 53 cut down. Would save a couple million in cap space. I was disappointed with him in the final game so I could care less.

Why, Kyle?

Are you so indecisive (like in the pocket) that you half not tolt us what your immediate NFL plans are?

Stephen Jones beliefs you will return.

Will you?

That would be nice. It would be nicer if you either retired or gave Jerra an immediate thums up as to your return.

Stay in touch, Kyle. We are all holding our breaths.

Oh, and you are no Lebron Shames.

Oh my..

Someone is frustrated..

Hahaha..

You know I thought he played well in the Iggles game and made only one mistake.

I really don't know exactly what we have in Orton yet.

I hope he stays.

I don't buy that it was never a consideration. The rumours have been floating about for weeks, months?, and I'm pretty certain the Cowboys said through the media that they were unsure of whether he was coming back. If when all this was going on he knew it was nonsense you'd think even if he didn't address it publicly he would have contacted Dallas to let them know.

what issue? why does he need to tell anyone that he is going to play and fulfill his contract? did sean lee call jerry and tell him he is playing this year? Ty Smith? Dez Bryant? No? because there is no need...why would I go in to work today and say I am retiring? I wouldn't because I need to get my paycheck

So why did we waste a roster spot on Weeden again?

BTW, the Eagles defense played awful that game, besides the fact their DC sucked. I've never seen so many mix-ups in my life and That one single coverage on third and long, with no secondary help resulting in a TD just was bad. I would not judge that game as a defining reason why he should be back. You got a whole body of work to choose from.

insurance?

How about draft a rookie as a project, instead of another TE, instead of wasting a roster spot on a guy who loses games by himself. I mean we could still go Kitna if Orton decides mid-season, he's done like we did last year.
