I couldn't agree more. Ferguson and Hendershot deserve a chance to really show what they can do.
Crying about the pick even before it’s made. If you look at last years playoff game We need playmakers. As much as I like the TE’s we have, there are a couple of tight ends in this draft who have the potential to be tops in the game. Our guys were nowhere to be found vs. SF.

odds a rookie TE will come in here and be a Dawg is very small. WR has a greater chance day 1. The safe pick is oline.

I find that guys who have played are almost always the worst analysts and scouts there are. In fact, How many of the best gms, or even scouts have ever played the game? This is a moot point.
Playing the game helps but it helps in a very limited number of positions.
For the most part following the athletic profiles for the position and collegiate production will steer you properly.

I am a firm believer that in scouting you should fall in love with NO ONE and avoid major risks.
Let others overlook red flags and take gambles.
Raiders having wild boards so different from others has not panned out.

The most foolish man in the world is the one that thinks her is smarter than everyone else.

This is a really good and understated point. I have no issues going TE early, however it is maybe the 2nd toughest position to transition to in the NFL next only to QB. Especially in todays NFL where you're expected to run routes like a WR and block like an OT you're basically trying to learn two positions at the same time. If you can't do both you need to be an elite receiver or else you're not worth a 1st pick.

I think a player like Kancey will fall. Only a limited number of teams would be prepared to part with a high pick due to scheme. My prediction, he is not drafted tonight
I recall how much Dallas fans loved Aaron Donald even though he only weighed 269 then he went before Dallas picked.
I would really love Kancey. He provides a first step quickness and inside power Dallas doesn't even come close to having today.

But I'd agree you could be right and he gets rated more around 30 by some other draftniks and media.

Thats why Schoomaker is the best pick. Great blocker and Harbaugh as his coach. Can't get any better prep for the NFL than that!

This point has not been made enough of by the Dallas media. History suggests the front office like players to develop. I think they pass on TE tonight even if there are options there at #26
I'd argue the opposite.

Dallas hasn't been very secretive over the years.
They let a franchise tagged TE walk, they very likely have that in play.
Especially with 5 TEs in the 30 visits.
I don't think an R4 and an UDFA that combined for 277 yards receiving total avert that gaze by any means.
And again, I think people forget Fergusion had concussion issues last year.

But they may not feel R1 is TE-land and wait 'til R2 or R3. I could see that option. ((I don't personally think any regular position should be excluded entirely from R1 but S, TE, RB all have negative scores that reduce the players to at least mid R1)).

Last year Dallas released La'el Collins, let an LG walk then drafted an OT R1.
This year they let another LG walk and agreed to a pay cut with the LT.
Likely in play for OL again.

They released a pricey vet RB.
They likely need a RB of some sort but they have had luck with Pollard, Barber, Choice without drafting R1 guys.

At DT they were signing guys off the street and giving them significant snaps much of the year.
Likely in play at some point.

They resigned their safety.
They traded for another team's WR1. --reportedly they did not like this WR class much at all.
They traded for a plus starting CB.

But nonetheless we will see how R1 goes in hours now.

if we draft a TE early its a HUGE miss. The best value waiting.
If we get a Kelce clone I’d be all in.

otherwise, I’m like most here in wanting the trenches shored up on either side of the ball

Oh they were there! It's the QB that couldn't get it done.

Which players do you see him rate wildly offbase?
I only went to 30 then quick scanned but it made a ton of sense to me.

And wasn't wildly off from Dane.
There are several. One that I noticed right away was that Sewell LB from Oregon. He had him rated a few spots just above 100. That Sewell young man is better than that. All one has to do is watch some tape on him.
