How do you judge whether someone is the best at that position?

Clearly LP is good, but how do you determine the quality of others skillset at the position?

.....Unless you were just joking.

as has been pointed out he has not had a bad snap ever as far as anyone can tell.

So no one can do better right?

Therefore your question is kind of answered right?

If you think watching the game upside down and behind/between your legs is "one of the best seats in the house", I'm glad you didn't design the current stadium. ;)

I always wondered who came up with the idea for snapping in the first place. You bend over and shove/throw the ball backwards from between your legs. Just seems a little...unnecessary.

Check out some videos of Rugby scrums...

He got robbed. Probably the best long snapper in the game, for years.

His wife is from San Antonio, and she and her family are big Cowboys fans. I imagine there's some side benefits there.....

At least we got the best something at their position.

What does it say about our team when the most reliable and consistent guys on our team are Dan Bailey and LP Ladoucuer.

I would say Ware beats both of them; AND Witten too.

It says that we don't have to worry about a botched long snap or a kick within 50 yards. I'm good with that.

It worked for the Vikings.

I don't have any idea how many snaps he gets a year, but even if he only snapped for as many punts/FG's/PAT's that he did his rookie year, which I believe Wikipiedia said was 125-130, and baseing it on a salary of 800K a year, that means he gets $6200/$6300 per snap. Not a bad salary. Glad we kept him.

If he botches ONE snap next year that ends up costing us a game, Jerry will be hammered for this deal by the Captain Hindsight fans.

Ah, the life of a long-snapper.

It says that their contributions are easily quantified.

If a player's job only involves one or two things that are easily recorded as being a success or a failure, it is easy to judge if they are doing well or not. That sort of evaluation is easy for a kicker. It is hard for an offensive lineman.

I'm raising my kids to learn how to long-snap. Man, that's an underrated job. $4M/year to mostly watch Cowboy games from one of the best seats in the house.

i have always wondered why more fringe players on the roster don't learn that job. i would think alot of guys could actually do it if they took the time, especially guys who have deep snapped in college some. not a bad gig to have

Great, that's less than 1 million a year, which leaves me to wonder which poster on this site is about to post a new thread titled "Romo should take LP Ladoucuer's lead". :laugh2:

I wonder what the franchise tag is for a LS. Lol.

No kidding. For a backup interior lineman to get activated on game day. There must be a good reason why it's impractical, but I can't imagine it.
