La Canfora and Miller hear Rankins possible at 4

So we are changing Tyronne Crawford's position? We have our starting 3-tech and have committed alot of money to him. No way we take Rankins.

Not sure they will but @ the press conference they talked about him at end,

Somebody has to play end until the knuckleheads come back. And Ive been talking about moving Crawford to end since last year.

Hes coming off rotator cuff surgery. Let him slim down and play him at SDE. He has better measurables than Charles Johnson and Hardy. He prefers playing end.

Now you draft a legit 3T. Rankins would be perfect. Hes projected to go in th 12-15 range. After the senior bowl he became the unquestioned top 3T option. Hed be a little reach at 4, but hed be a very good player for us.

Love the interior depth in this draft! Rankins is a very good football player. Not sure if he goes at 4 though. Signing Tyrone Crawford (last year) and Thornton in March should not keep you from taking advantage of the talent at DT in this draft. It will improve the DL no matter if it's interior lineman or DE.

The only thing you can count on with the Cowboys and the draft it that more likely than not, you will only recognize the first round pick and perhaps the second round pick. Dallas a knack for drafting players after that, that no one had heard of, no one had in their mock draft.

How many here had Chaz Green, Russel or Wilson in their mocks last year? How about Hitchins or Wilcox in previous drafts?

Lots of people had Chaz. The team showed a lot of interest. Now they all had him at least a round later.

All this tells me is that a trade back to 8 or 9 makes the most sense. Why?

There is gonna be a player we like there: Elliott, Bosa, Buckner or Rankins. One or more of them will be there at 8 or 9. Trade 4 to a team that loves Tunsil or Ramsey and pick up a second rounder.

Then use that extra second rounder to move up and pick Lynch. Boom. Draft solved. You're welcome, Jerry.

This has been the most common theme/scenario promoted on the board since Goff/Wentz got taken out of the equation. Seconded definitely, but would take Karl Joseph if Lynch is off the board earlier than thought (seems to go that way every draft).

Wilcox yes, mainly due to his Senior Bowl. Russell got some play in deep mocks. Wilson or Hitchens, not really.

Hitchens wasn't even the full time starter at Iowa...

Another player who wasn't the full time starter on their college team. No red flags there:D Didn't we find Matt Johnson out of a community college somewhere?

  • The buzz surrounding Louisville defensive lineman Sheldon Rankins has intensified today. Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com and Matt Miller of Bleacher Report (Twitter links) both have heard that Rankins will be considered as early as No. 4 by the Cowboys, with La Canfora predicting that he’ll end up as a top-10 pick. Tony Pauline at BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1has heard that the draft stocks for both Rankins and Mississippi State DT Chris Jones have risen, with teams seeking interior pass rushers.

Holy moly. Trade the pick before doing something like that.

With all this talk about acquiring another her 1st pick I don't doubt it could be rankins after a trade. Can't wait. He's my dark horse pick

Rankins most likely will be a top 12 pick. We wont move up that far. I hope we dont move up at all.

I will be thrilled if they can manage to move up for Treadwell somehow. Guy is going to be really good.

If we stay put or if we move I've come to terms of just accepting what happens next. Of course i have my favorites as I've stated but nothing to do but wait now. The few months of scouting from our couches are soon to be done.

Right now, to me that would be the best case for us. Move down to 15 with Ten and pick up a 2nd and 3rd. Rankins, Lynch or even Floyd could be in play there. And we get the extra picks.

If we stay put, its Ramsey or Buckner. Id be very tempted to grab Jack there too.

I like Rankins...if we traded back.
Heck I think you could get someone to trade up for Zeke (Dolphins) or Ramsey or Tunsil if 2 of the three was there.

And still be in position to take Rankins.

I would truly be shocked if we took him at four though.

And that's the whole point, Brain. These media guys hear that Dallas is looking closely at a player like Rankins or Buckner or even Elliott, and they immediately think we're going to consider them at #4. No way in hell Dallas selects Rankins at 4.

They probably have 1-2 guys like Ramsey that they actually like at #4, but if a trade comes up, they are targeting the guys they'd convert that #4 into if they moved down a bit. So much crazy talk right now.

Which is the crux of the problem. Lately the Cowboys have hit on their early picks and flubbed up the later ones. I saw an ESPN piece that shows only the Chiefs and Lions have fewer fourth and fifth round picks playing for them than Dallas. The Seahawks, Packers, and Patriots have the most.

When they drafted Chaz Green last year I was saying "who"....?? Should have been asking, "Why:...

Speaking of Chaz Green my fellow Yankee, what is the scoop on him? Is he ready for OTAs?
