If it were Arson Crazy Nuts,.. wouldnt we hear about these kind of massive destructive wild fires all across the nation on a much frequent basis like we do with California ?
Cali actually does have an issue with arson. Most fires are started by either reckless people or arsonist rather than natural events. The difference here is there were 100mph winds that could help an arsonist do more damage. There are already videos of people lighting things on fire and the one suspect that was arrested was caught with a blow torch.

Like I said, right now arsonists have perfect cover. It's almost perfect conditions to go out and burn things and do damage.

Curfew Declaration:

For residents living within an Evacuation Warning Zone, this Order shall not apply to those residents who are traveling to or from their places of residence.
To extent that the terms of the County’s curfew order are more stringent than any city’s curfew order, the County’s more stringent terms shall apply within such city to that extent.
Any violation of this Order is a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000 or by imprisonment for a period not to exceed six months, or both, as provided by LACC section 2.68.320 or any applicable state or municipal law.
This Order shall be effective immediately as of January 9, 2025, commencing at 6:00 p.m., and extending until 6:00 a.m. on the date this order is lifted. The County may renew, amend, or extend this Order in accordance with Government Code section 8634 and LACC section 2.68.150.

Such complete incompetence. This should NEVER have happened or at least been this bad. It’s beyond disgusting.

I hope that people will finally wake up.

The most powerful country in the world, the richest state in the union, and there's no water in the fire hydrants.

That's something that might have been ok in 1812 not 2024.
It sounds crazy doesn't it. The Earth is 2/3 covered with water and we often run short of it. I suppose it's complicated.

This fire story is just so sad. I feel for all the people who lost everything, including members of their families. We need to do better planning for these things. Remember how much blame was thrown around for Katrina, a massive storm? This situation is similar. We know CA is subject to dry conditions, winds, and fires. This may be bigger than most but only because of where it started and spread. Yes, the winds were higher than normal. But LA should have had tested contingencies for this event. Let's hope they contain the fires soon and come up with better solutions for the future.

And winds are supposed to start picking up again either today or tomorrow. BUT that is forecasting and the only job where you can be wrong 80% of the time and still keep it.

But if it starts up again, whatever containment they have will be gone fast.
There is a good chance not a hell of a lot of LA will be left when this is all over

Winds are howling now, will continue to get worse through Monday. My house may not end up surviving this after all

I think anyone who has reason to worry needs to get ready to haul ***.

Maybe if you know someone well away, take a car load of stuff there for them to keep.

Looks like Brentwood and Encino are in trouble now. If the fire goes through those areas, it opens a path to Beverly Hills and Hollywood. The winds are strong and will only get worse tomorrow.
