LA Fires

Those trucks, along with others have been ordered to a DOT inspection in Sacramento. I think it’s at 4:30 tomorrow. This is pure bureaucratic incompetence. LA doesn’t need those trucks in a timely fashion or anything.
Complete BS.

No, California is not stopping Oregon fire trucks for emissions testing, officials say

SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - After Oregon sent 300 firefighters and 75 engines to help fight the Los Angeles fires this week, rumors began circulating that equipment and crews had been stopped for California emissions testing.

According to Oregon and California officials, each truck was given a routine safety check in Sacramento to make sure each engine was equipped, mechanically sound, and able to respond.

The Oregon State Fire Marshal said on Friday that the inspection ensures that the safety of firefighters is the top priority as they fight the massive fires.

Karen Bass reportedly turned down help from
NYFD . Fresh crews if nothing else . No time to turn down help.

I never once said it was for emissions and they did stop for inspection. My gripe was making them wait while my area was under fire. I do understand the why for safety but what I posted wasn’t “complete BS”.

Go save those native reservations, Cal.

Gonna be a long 4 years for ya.

Those winds are no joke. Talk to a firefighter friend of mine who said after about 20 mph they usually let the fire burn because they can’t do much and it can get dangerous because you never know when the winds will change. As far as no water there has been reasons why that happened at no fault to anyone. The pressure station was burned and some of the pipes burned. Oregon trucks were not stopped in Sacramento for emissions. Please be careful reading misinformation as others may take advantage of this tragedy for their own personal use.

I am reminded of what the Indians in the 1700's and 1800's called that little region in Southern California, ripe with all the factors that at times feed fire. I don't know the exact translation but the native term was ripe with, "SMOKE!"

I went to UCLA in the 80's and know how nasty those Santa Ana winds can be.

So very, very sorry for all those who have lost so much.
