Phil calls Bynum’s Celtics comment “a brain fart”

May 23rd, 2010, 4:53 pm · 9 Comments · posted by KEVIN DING, OCREGISTER.COM

PHOENIX — Asked about Andrew Bynum’s phrasing that “it’s going to be amazing to play against those (Boston) guys again,” Phil Jackson said Sunday it was “what we call a brain fart in our business. He wasn’t thinking very clearly right there.”

Bynum’s comment came even before the Celtics took a 3-0 series lead on Orlando in the Eastern Conference finals. Bynum did mention Saturday how the Lakers’ focus was on Game 3 of the Western Conference finals, though.

“Man, it’s going to be amazing to play against those guys again,” Bynum said Saturday. “Especially having lost. We’re going to have a lot of fuel, a lot of ammo to throw at those guys. … They’re definitely a great team. They’ve got great veterans on their squad. We know that. So we already are getting prepared. The first step is closing out Game 3. And after that we’ll be focusing on Boston, looking at them play, watching how they’re playing Orlando, and try and pick up as much as we can.”

Jackson did say that the three days without a game helped the swelling in Bynum’s injured right knee calm down, even if the torn cartilage can only be fixed with surgery.

“That part is better off,” Jackson said.

Crazy finish. Of all the scenarios I had in my head(it was just one,- Kobe nailing the game winner) never did I think Lakers would win off a Kobe airball.

Once again Kobe shows his non clutchness.

Of course that airball will get swept under the rug along with his other 40 gw misses because they won...but he'll make a lucky one and everyone screams how clutch he is

Why do you say such silly things? He has hit 6 game winning baskets alone in just this year. By the way, he was fouled on that play but I know the refs would never call that at that point of the game.

The only clutch Lebron is familiar with would be in a five speed.

I know, right? Lebron would have hit that, with one hand, backwards, and his eyes closed.

See this is what I'm talking about. Tooootally swept under the rug because they won. This is the same thing that happened in OKC when Gasol tipped it in after kobe bricked a GW shot.

Kobe isn't clutch people. His percentage is extremely low. He has a hot streak of like 6 in a season and everyone screams like he's some clutch god. How about the other's he bricked this postseason??

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Nice shot Lebron, with that kind of touch I'm sure he's an excellent fisherman.....

Hot streak of 6? You do realise that Kobe has hit more game winning shots this year than Lebron has for his career. Stop embarrassing yourself.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Typical Laker fan spewing garbage.

LeBron has 17 gw FG's in his career.

Take your own advice please.

Slate might be the NBA equivalent of an Eagles fan.

No actual claim to anything other than "some day, some how".

I don't even follow NBA at all. I just take notice when someone pumps a specific player all season and then when that player's season ends he reverts to "everyone else sucks" mode.

Funny you'd call someone a little girl. Your yeast infection is long documented around here.
