We scored a lot last year in spite of tackle play but we were poor in the Red Zone which is where that weakness shows
you do not have a championship Offense if you cannot get it done in the Red Zone; TOUCHDOWNS NOT FIELD GOALS

It is not hopium. It is reality. Top offense.

And yes red zone scoring was an issue. And they said they will address that in TC.
And part of that could have been play calls. Or Dak audibles. And yes blocking. It all need to be in sync.

Also injuries along the OL, yet again, throughout the year. They can’t get in sync either.
So to me that is not all on OT play all the time.

As I said, I will wait to see how they do this year. In year 2 under this offense.

We heard about Steele's struggles yesterday in the joint practices, this is nothing new. He is what he is, a good run blocker that is maxed out as a poor pass protector. Doesn't mean that cannot succeed with him as a starter, Doug Free had a similar skill set. Good news is that Guyton appears to be having a strong camp, his biggest concern can he stay healthy?

Also have heard that Bass is getting a lot of snaps with the 1's at LG. This could mean that Tyler Smith might be the team's #3 Tackle if they decide to use their 5 best lineman.

Thomas reportedly has taken a step back this season and Shelton needs to get stronger. Haven't heard much about 2nd year tackle Cornellius.

Whatever Schott and Dak did
for the GB offensive game plan last year should probably be the base offense for this year.

And that is extreme up tempo with Dak getting rid of the ball lightning quick.

It's the only thing I can think of to compensate for these 2 extremely poor pass blockers.

You can chip and help if one side is bad but it wont work if both tackles suck.
And they do.

Cornelius had a really strong preseason last year. I think if he matches, he could be a good backup option at RT

The offensive line depth is the biggest problem we have in my opinion. I thought Cornelius and Thomas were going to be solid 2nd team tackles after last preseason. I hate the plan of moving Tyler Smith to left tackle if Guyton or Steele are injured.

I like Guyton, but the plain reality is that he did not go up against the DL you are referring to because the impact player who made that line good (Verse) is no longer on the team. He played against backups. It is what it is.

Weak tackle play will doom any team.
At least one hoping to be a real contender

I think fans are over thinking how bad the OT's actually are.

One of the top offenses for quite a few years now.
And that is with many injuries on the OL. They have not had the projected starting OL on the field for the last 5 yers or more.
Well, maybe 5% of the time.

I think they will be just fine.

If you list the reasons why we won seven games last year, the offensive line was maybe number four. This is just position groups and doesn’t even touch on Eberflus or the chaos caused by trading their best player less than a week before the opener

There’s only so much you can do in a single off season when it comes to talent. I’m sure OT is high on the list for the 2027 draft

1. Pass Rush - 31 sacks. 28 before Clowney went crazy in week 17)
2. Linebackers - one of the worst tackling groups we’ve had in years
3. Secondary - we had six interceptions. The team was -9 for the year
4. Offensive Tackle - Steele and Thomas were bad (Combined: 9 sacks, 13 QB Hits, 75 pressures)

Just to clarify the terms. The “top offense” defense is “copium”, not “hopium” .

Hopium is “this is our year”.

Anyway, the red zone was really bad and coaching may not be able to fix it all

• Dak’s weird red zone inneficiency
• Interceptions
• Fourth down failure
• Rushing offense
• Pre snap penalties

Outside the 20, those weren’t issues at all, and *that* is why they had so many yards

Yes this is true I believe we're already talking about it on another thread but let's let them get through camp and see if something rises to the top you guys are getting way ahead of this let the young guys fight for spots Somebody might rise to this top just like we ended up with Bass and Hoffman came out of nowhere to be close to tier two starters not just backups so maybe out of this group in training camp they'll come up with a guy who can be depth if that's what you're worried about I mean it happened with the guards in the centers so why can't it happen with this group maybe the rookie maybe Nate Thomas there's other people on this roster that's what camp is for that's why you carry so many people 'cause you're hoping to find that diamond in the rough if it's not a starter you're looking for depth

I will trust Adams is got a keen eye on all these guys and has a list for the front office just in case I don't think they're rolling without insurance I think they understand where their weaknesses are and that is why they won't use the extra money or the extra draft pick just to go run out and get Max Crosby or Brooks they they won't spend it on defense right now they're gonna wait and make sure they don't need a tackle right before the season starts or if they have a major injury somewhere else they'll use that credit now they have sitting there waiting on what they really need and you won't know that till after the preseason games are over cut downs that is how Green Bay got Parsons they went after him a week before the season started and the Cowboys may do something like that at a position and it might be tackle..
