Lacking killer instinct

It seems to me the Cowboys played two totally different halves of football both offensively and defensively. I can understand trying to save players like Zeke or those dealing with injuries. I'm more concerned with the coaches taking the foot off the pedal with the play calling. For the most part this team is a young team still learning. As a fan I want see my team go for the throat when they see blood. I think players want that too. Let's be honest, the last two game the defense created 4 turnovers and that's not going to happen every week. We should have WON the last two games my 30 points each. Championship team bury teams when handed the chance.

No, championship teams don't always bury teams dude, but good story. The point is to win the game, period. Beating your opponent by 50 points or by 1 don't matter. Only wins do. You play to win right? Not to beat vegas odds man. The team with the most points wins. If a team loses by 1 point, they didn't do enough to win. I shouldn't even have to explain this.

I guarantee you wouldn’t be saying this had Washington came back to beat us today would you. Sorry but this isn’t your kids tee ball where everyone gets a participation trophy just for playing. Nice story though.

You might want to ask Heinicke if the Cowboys lack the "killer instinct". His opinion slightly differs, I suspect.

It was a Dallas-Washington game. One of them could have been undefeated and the other winless and you would probably still get a game much like you saw today,

Cowboy-Exskins games are always ugly. They are always out of character for both teams. A person would have to be crazy to bet on a game between those two. I don't even know why they bother setting a point spread.

Something is confusing our quarterback. He's reverted to his old self and doesn't have confident reads or anticipation of his receiver's routes. There's no command of the field or manipulation of the defenses. The offense is dysfunctional. Once they start executing again maybe they can worry about having a killer instinct.

It told me a lot when the offense threw 5 million WR screen passes on 3rd and long and then had the defense playing prevent with 8-9 minutes left in the game. Told me that they just wanted to get out of there with a win, and didn’t care to actually play well. Nearly came up to bite them

The team some what Dallas to be right now, is the team I want Dallas to be in the playoffs. I'd rather see everything come together in the playoffs. That's when and where they need to be playing their best.

Like retired players, turned commentators, say...you need to look at the season as four seasons in one. You're going to have your ups and downs, like a roller coaster. But you need to be playing you best ball toward the end of the year and in the playoffs. The best team doesn't always win in the playoffs, the hottest team wins. So I hope we can develop and showcase that killer instinct in our week 17 match up.

Now would be to early, IMO. Keep winning ugly and just stay healthy. That's all I want from this team right now.

You’re right. They pretty much broke him in the first half. You could see it in his face he didn’t want anymore and he tapped out. More reason to think we should have won’t that game by more than a touchdown.

Bucs were winning 21-0 today and needed refs and OT to win. Do we still consider them a championship team or nah? Need to make sure my facts are correct when talking about champion teams to other people.
True but Buffalo didn’t turn the ball over 4 times with one resulting in a TD. Nor were they playing against a backup QB when they came back to tie the game. Buffalo is also a playoff team. Don’t forget those facts.

The red zone offense, big problem. Dak inconsistency also kept WFT in the game.

Careful, you will be bombarded with, "but they won last year!"

Tamp Bay won the Super Bowl and let Buffalo come back on them and take them to overtime.

Maybe it happens to championship teams too.

They seem to have once again taken the foot off the gas and it almost bit them in the arse. Maybe the substitutions they were forced to make due to injury inhibited them from continuing to do what they did in the first half. However, my observation was Dak threw a nonsense pick 6 and as soon as that happened RB Clement was pulled off the field and Zeke got off the bench and into the game.

Killer instinct is running the ball for first downs and bleeding the clock, especially when the opposing defense is playing a light box protecting against the pass. Dallas couldn't run, so they never could salt this game away. Obviously Dak was awful and damn near handed the game away to Washington.

Personally no issue with the play of the defense even in the 2nd half and it was a forced fumble that sealed with win. Cowboys D gave up 14 points on the day
