So, . . . . . . . . . . hot air got him a 157-29-4 record at the college level?

He was also the play-caller in 1971 with an NCAA record of 472 yards rushing per game.

Barry Switzer=the beginning of the dark ages of the Dallas Cowboys.

Switzer won a SB..........so the dark ages started with a SB win?

I consider the Campo era the beginning of the dark ages myself.

Seriously. He was a pretty good coach I think. I know he won with Jimmy's team, but winning a Super Bowl is still a great accomplishment. He also had the Boys in the NFC championship game in 94, and coached 10-6 team that went to the playoffs after the Super Bowl win so it's not like he only had one year and went 3-13 the other ones.

Considering RedBall cant break .500 I would say that is a dam good resume.

You have a good point. Much better record at the HC position than Garrett. I doubt Garrett ever approaches the sucess that Switzer has had in his career.

I don't think you can compare Red's teams to the teams that Jimmy Johnson built and Barry Switzer barely maintained.

The guy won a Super Bowl yet people bash the guy.

That team won the SB in spite of Switzer, not because of him.

You can take the Cowboy years off of Switzer's coaching accomplishments and he still has one heck of a record.

I have no problem giving the TEAM all the credit in the world for wining SB XXX.

However, if you set aside your bitterness over Jimmy leaving and realize that Switzer came into a difficult situation in some ways you can see that he deserves some credit. Any coach that came in would have won with "Jimmys team." Switzer had Jimmy's coaches. He had to do a good job with the "people issues." He did what a good HC should have done, and was the right guy for the job at that time.

BTW, how did Jimmy do in Miami where he got to run the show?

Puh-leeaaaaaease...

Switzer's influence on this team was almost entirely negative. He allowed what had been a disciplined, detail oriented, fear driven team under Jimmy to develop a country club "let's all have a good time" mindset. The fact that a perfectionist like Troy Aikman despised Switzer for his unwillingness to demand more from his players speaks volumes, imho.
