Signed by Cowboys La'el Collins Extended

What's of buying in to potential that we did with Crawford.

Funny how this is praised now.... Lord help Collins and the front office if he struggles with health (again) or a level of competition at RT (that he never yet faced).

Meanwhile everyone in this thread cheering will forget they did so.

Two year extension for Collins vs. a five-year for Crawford. Huge difference.

Or he pans out and the few complaining about will forget they did so.

Didn't see that coming. Wow this team has a lot of money invested on the o-line. The commitment isn't long term, however. Gives them time to find/room a cheaper RT if that becomes necessary.

Mr. Martin...come on down and get yours!
That's what I love about it.

His contract comes off the books at the same time they need to pay Dak.

Gives them time to groom a future replacement at RT since 4 massive, long-term contracts on the offensive line isn't feasible.

Difference is...it is a two year extension. We didn't add 5 years, 45 million.

We did this with Crawford and it's kind of biting us in the butt.

Wow. Term is short, but wow that's a good amount of money for a guy at a new position.

Man, I've been saying Jerry was going to make the first round money right for like forever now.

Those of you who told me over and over that I was wrong, please step up!

There were actually people who were already claiming Collins wouldnt be re-signed???

No we didn't.

Yes we did. We bought out some future years at an inflated price banking on potential.

Yes, it's two years versus five but it still is paying a player top money for a period without them having actually proved they deserve the money.

He was going to make 3.5-4m next year as a 1st Round RFA, so this is a pretty good offer

The guarantee and signing bonus will show true commitment.......it could be 100% gtd

I am the biggest FO basher here and I am completely on board with this. OLs are are almost as hard to find as QBs, and cost almost as much. Should be no over paying for somebody elses trash for quite a while.

And guess what? If it doesn't work out, they can get out of this after two years.
