La'el Collins' first game **merged**

What do you think about his performance? Correct me if I'm wrong but on the Escobar fumble he was the one who pushed the returner out of bounds to save a TD. Looked as good as Bernie to my untrained eye. I love his size, and Philly has a strong defensive front which is a good test.

If true, that might have saved the game.

Be interesting to see how they grade out
I've never been able to really judge oline play watching games on TV
The biggest issue all day with the entire offense was the penalties

I won't pretend to act like I grade OL play from my couch. But the rest of the OL was so bad, it's possible. He got stood up on that goal line run but that's the only noticeable negative play I can recall.

The whole group played bad. Not many holes and way too many penalties
Be interesting to see who grades out well if anyone does

He needs to be out there permanently. That was a Larry Allen type effort to prevent that score. Cant have enough of those types on the roster.BTW they ran the ball more effectively when he wasin there.

Collins played well but we need our best players out there since tony and dez are gone. IDK if collins is better than leary at the moment

Despite the mistakes he made, and his rookie jitters, Collins deserves credit for stepping up on one monumentous play. If he hadn't pushed out Jenkins on Escobar's fumble, that return would have gone for six. A quick six would have been enough to change the momentum of the game, and could have been the difference between a W and the L, although I'll concede it's debatable. However, Bradford's fumble on the very next play would have never happened.

Also, a tip of the hat to the coaches who kept giving Collins a chance to get in there. Otherwise, Bernadeau would probably not have even been in the frame as Jenkins streaked up the sidelines for an Eagles TD. Agree? Disagree? Either way, having Collins speed in there made a huge difference on the team.

I am very curious to hear Broddius break down Collins day against premier defensive talent. I do know he was replaced later in game.

I mentioned that play by Collins in another thread. Not quite Larry Allen-esque but a very athletic play.

Keep working Collins in until at least until mid way in the season.

One other item of note, Bernadeau was the LG for the play that knocked Romo out. It wasn't Collins, so don't pin the sack and collarbone snap on him.

There were two turn overs in this game by Dallas offense that were recovered by Philly Defense and being advanced. L' Collins chased the eagle down both times when it looked like they would score and stopped them. Dallas defense ended up getting two turnovers after Collins refusal to quit. Collins changed this game.
Kudos to the rookie Collins!

All I know is that Bernie looked like crap on that first series. As a center he's above average, but at OG he is average, at best.
