La'el Collins' first game **merged**

One other item of note, Bernadeau was the LG for the play that knocked Romo out. It wasn't Collins, so don't pin the sack and collarbone snap on him.

Sacks happen the collarbone was a fluke. Dude fell on top of him, unlike the Boley hit where he wrapped tony's arms up and drove him through the turf.

I glad to see Collins get some game time and did well. Overall how was his blocking, and how was his pass protection.

I'm interested to see the resident film reviewers give their takes in the next few days.

He will be a good one.He will never forgot Jerry taking a chance on him when the whole league gave up on him. He's a Cowboy fellas!

im not student of the offensive line, but you noticed a difference real quick when Collins came in and im not saying that because i felt all along Colins was that good. I didnt believe he was as good as advertised, but you noticed quickly when he came in for a rookie.

He had a bad game with some dumb penalties yesterday. Can we all now agree Collins should start (assuming no Leary again this week), or does Berny still deserve the nod because of his "experience?"

At this point, there's no need to keep Collins on the bench unless Leary is fully healthy and practicing at 100%.

I think they were giving Collns some chances to get his feet wet against a good Defensive front. He made some plays and he got his butt handed to him on a few as well.

I don't know that he is ready to start but I think they want him to get there and the best way to do that is to get some actual game exp.

I have to wonder how Leary is doing.

I'll wait to see how the oline graded out
Collins appeared to have played well but I've never seen anyone who can grade oline watching their TV

the only real bad play was the one on the goal line that he got pushed into the backfield. I also think he was the only OL besides fred that did not get a false start or other procedural penalty.

With Weeden as the QB, I don't care if Collins makes a mistake.

The fact that they rotated Collins and Bern indicates they were probably planning to make Collins the starter if Leary was out for long.

I have not rewatched the game on the All-22 yet, but I think both of them were "good enough". Bern did false start but so did Free and Witten did it against the Giants. There was a holding call on Bern that was bogus from what I could see in the broadcast footage. Those refs had an extremely happy trigger finger on throwing flags. They flagged Tyron for lining up too far off the line, but he was lined up where he always lines up and other officiating crews don't call it. The call against Bailey was silly. I recall at least 1 flag on the Eagles that most refs would not call.

Having said that, I don't see any reason not to start Collins.

Not saying this is a reason to start him, but Collins' hustle on the Escobar fumble return saved a TD. On the next play we recovered the Evils' fumbled snap. Good job young man!

His "experience" is why I don't want to see him start.

Right -- my experience with him is he's a large-body backup, who knows the schemes and still makes mistakes and fails to make some of the plays.

I find quotes like this funny. Every team including the cowboys passed on him. The cowboys were 1 of a few teams willing to pay him max UDFA money but it wasn't like the Cowboys weren't as guilty or careful as the other teams. Don't get me wrong I am stoked they got him but lets call a spade a spade, he had a red flag and cowboys took a very low risk approach to it.
