La'el Collins, too many mistakes

La'el Collins is always one to watch for his flashy plays, but I noticed he was getting turned around and even was pancaked by a defender. He has a great highlights, but is a very hot and cold player. Not consistent from play to play. (And I'm not counting when he lets his defender past him while setting up a screen.) On the run before the TD, the guy he let through almost disrupted the whole thing.

He definitely needs to work on his consistency. If not, he'll be great trade bait. I certainly hope it doesn't come to that, he's very good when he wants to be.

Well Leary won't be resigning here. so Collins won't be trade bait.

I agree, but who gives you the most value on the team vs. being traded? I bet Leary would sign long term if he knew he was going to start and Collins was off the roster via a trade. JMO

That type of inconsistencies is what get Romo nurseing another injury............kid has to bear down and step it up. Cant slice it into a different fairway every 3rd hole, has to concentrate on technique every play to play as great as he thinks he wants to be.

I thought this thread was a joke also...
I love when someone who doesn't even know a players blocking assignment wants to fire off about how he choose to block the wrong guy..it's like blaming the QB for an interception when you don't know the pass route and if the WR broke left when it should have been right.

The analysis is broadly general and shows the OP has an agenda more than it shows any real analysis of Collins play.

I agree although Collins has the greater upside without the nagging knee worry. My guess is Collins stays. I wrote last year he was inconsistent and caught a little grief. I had hoped he would come out without much in that way.....although I have to watch the games with one eye and mod with the other. So I'll need to see more for myself. I'm just relying on you guys right now.

Collins was often terrible in pass protection last year. He's got a LONG way to go.

Makes me scared to start Collins at times because Romo is one broken clavicle from probably being done for good. Just my opinion and not here to start senseless arguments. Just good dialogue.

Did any of you watch how Collins played? Look at that before you call this a trash discussion. He REALLY needs some work. I'd rather keep him than trade him. Offensive lineman should not be GETTING PANCAKED.

He's got a long way to go, but has a high enough ceiling that I'm not too worried. He also wasn't playing with Smith, whom I'm sure he's got a good chemistry with.

It's not a joke. Collins has major issues. And hasn't been all that well graded. But you can still see why he's highly regarded because of his ability to push in the running game.
