I wont be glad if Dak gets pounded, I would prefer upgrading and some solid focus on this OL.
Keep all those 5th rounders and draft all OL available.
I believe our line will be better. Let's see what they do...we are already better purging 20 penalties. i think we are better at RT....

Converting penalties to sacks is not an improvement. Right now the OL is weaker than it was last year. It is a mistake to treat draft picks like they are known entities as NFL players. No one expected Connor Williams to be a penalty machine when he came out of college. But facing bigger, stronger, quicker defensive linemen in the NFL will do that so a lot of players.

While I don’t like not getting a pick they can have his fat butt. The dude played 10 games since he signed his contract

We really need to scrutinize who would give these contracts too.

Like I said, Jerry is a fool when he hands out contracts. We let people leave in droves in the mid-90s. I'm sure they were buses leaving Dallas every hour. Now we sign everybody we can before they leave. It makes no sense.

Steele is not a turnstyle at RT....not sure why you think he would be?

McGovern at LG, if that is as bad as it gets, is also not one.

Not sure where these sacks are coming from.

Not sure how you define a turnstyle in the NFL but I found these stats on our offensive line from last year

Player Sacks Allowed Pressures Allowed TFLA PA %
C Williams 1 13 4 2.75%
T. Biadasz 0 21 2.5 2.28%
Z. Martin 1 19 2.5 2.76%
C. McGovern 1 16 1 5.8%
T. Smith 2 11 0 2.39%
L. Collins 2 17 2 3.74%
T. Steele 2 30 1 5.87%

Steele had the worst PA percentage of any Cowboys lineman including Connor McGovern, who had the 2nd worst. As I have been saying, based on what we saw from Steele last year we cannot say definitively he is ready to replace Collins with certainty. Of course these are just passing stats.

2 sacks allowed. Same number as Collins.

HOWEVER...Steele played some left tackle as well AND had 300+ more plays.

Again...he is a better player than Collins, not even factoring in the 9 penalties in 10 games Collins had.

AND he is 3+ years younger.

AND he is dominant in the run game.

And he works HARD.

AND he isn't a character concern.

AND he is cheap as hell...lol

Those stats also reflect Steele's play at LT which he hadn't trained for or had any experience at. Plus he played RT when Dak's play deteriorated. Go back and rerun them from the 2020 season at RT.

I'd be curious the see the breakdown between left and right tackle for Steele. He did not play well on the left side but did fine on the right it seemed.

Yes, i would never advocate for Steele to replace Tyron...but RT, he is going to be really good at and be extended

We can argue from now until September but the fact is even the Cowboys coaches felt Collins was better than Steele which is why Collins got his job back. Steele may be the guy. He may be the undrafted free agent who works out. My only point is it is not a certainty. Also, cutting Collins was stupid. They guy can play and surely someone would give up a draft pick for him if the Cowboys waited to get rid of him.

:hammer:

Not sure how anyone could justify Collins at this point.

Failed experiment. Let's move on. Once a slacker, always a slacker.

Well the Bungles let him walk away without a deal, so maybe they saw something we have seen all too often? If so gung ho for the guy, you just don't let him walk unless I am missing something here regarding his visit

Wouldn't be surprised if we valued the cap space more than a late-round pick. Also wouldn't be surprised if we take that cap space and sign Steele to a multiyear deal. He would be relatively cheap right now, so if they could lock him up for three or four years, I believe the Joneses would think that's worth it.
I would hold my horses on Steele. Don't rush it.
