5 straight texas 4a championships

wow!!
It's pretty staggering the difference between 4a and 5a ball though, when I was in high school we opened up a brand new school with no upper classmen, as sophomores and juniors we played varsity minus a senor class and we deluded ourselves into thinking we were great by convincingly beating a trio of 4a teams out of district to start the season. Then we didn't win a single game in district, the closest loss being by 21 points. Of course we had to play perennial 5a powerhouse Katy High School every year.

Now my old high school, Cinco Ranch competes with Katy every year for district and to advance in the playoffs but we sucked big time our first year minus seniors, yet we were better than most 4a teams.

Yes our coach, I assume he's still there, ruined many teenagers' knees with his relentless regimens.

There's not much difference between 4A and 5A at the top. The depth of 5A and how much competition a team would face during district and playoffs are the big differences. But when you're talking maybe the top 10 or even 20, many of the teams have as much D-1 talent and size as most 5As. Those large 5A schools or the single school suburban 5A schools have huge programs with lots of players though. 150-200 players sometimes on a varsity squad. That you rarely see in 4A. Southlake Carroll moved up to 5A and won 4 out 5 titles in their first 5 years of 5A. Cibolo Steele has won a 5A title and just lost the 5A title game last night in their first 2 years of moving up from 4A. In 4A they were always the toughest out for Lake Travis.

I got a chance to watch the game. Congratulations to Lake Travis 5 consecutive titles pretty amazing stuff
