Slate, please chime in. Last I heard weeks ago you were positive Odom was gone. :lmao2:

Now we got Odom and his boy Artest. :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

Purp & Gold show coming to a city near you very soon.

Don't jinx it.

I'm interested in seeing if Bynum can stay healthy for an entire year. He was tearing it up before he got hurt. He sucked after he cam back.

Dynasty talk is premature, but they took a HUGE step with the resign. If Odom walked, the road would have been much tougher.

The progression (or not) of Bynum will go a long way in deciding just how many they win. They should be favorites in the West but the rich got richer this offseason. All of the main contenders reloaded so it will be another race this season.

Nope on Chris Bosh, or any other max free agent. The Cavs spent too much $ on Side Show Bob, Parker and Moon, and will not have enough $ for another max free agent. The cap is going to go WAY down next year. Teams like the Knicks who wanted 2 max guys will be lucky to get 1 now.

And no LBJ is not going to take a paycut to sign another player. And no other max free agent will take a pay cut to go there either. It's not LBJ's fault it is just nobody wants to play in Cleveland. I live in Ohio and other than the Great Lakes Brewery I think Cleveland sucks.

EDIT....

Shaq's not going to retire either. He wants a 2 year extension of 20 million. Not sure if 20 million a year or 10 million for 2. He wasn't in his press confrence with Ferry for more than 5 minutes before he brought up an extension. If he doesn't get an extension expect an minor injury to last longer than expected because he only recovers on "company time"

It's not even August yet.

Talk of NBA dynasties right now are WAY premature.

What happens if Kobe goes out and blows a knee out next season?

No Dynasty.

Don't jinx yourself.

Exactly. After LA won game 4 against Orlando, I said we just won the championship. I then thought I put the jinx on and fully expected Kobe to blow his knee out, Gasol to get hit with a metor, and Odom to OD on Gummy Bears before game 5.

the one thing that will help the lakers this coming year is that there are pretty much only 4 teams out there to challenge them for the title, and only one of them they will have to play before the finals, its pretty crazy that only 5 teams have a realistic chance

As far as basketball predictions, has Slate ever been right? It will be a tough season next year. I expect the Spurs to give us a run for our money but we should be able to handle that. Just think with 2 more rings, Kobe will have to be in the discussion of him being just as good as Micheal J Jordan.

I think that that discussion can be had now but in the end, it wouldn't matter. Even if Kobe wins another title, that will not make him better then MJ. MJ, IMO, was better then Kobe.

Of course, I don't believe that MJ was the best player I've ever seen so you know, I'm used to nobody listening to me.

The Lakers have won 4 NBA championships and 6 conference championships this decade (yeah, yeah, I know 2000 isn't technically this decade but it's close enough :D) with their current head coach and current superstar. Seems to me they already are a dynasty.

The Lakers have made some improvements but so have the Celtics and the Cavaliers. It should be an interesting season.

Please stop trying to make it seem like you know what your talking about. They have PLENTY of money next year. Don't even kid yourself. Where does it say they have to resign Shaq next year? His contract is up and his 20 mil goes with it. Wally's contract is up also and so is his 7 mil per year

That's 27 mil!! Plus LeBron is already making 15 mil per year. He'll resign with the Cavs and making about 20 mil in 2010. That's only 5 more on top than what he's been making already. We're down to about 22 mil now. Just enough to max out someone else's contract..hmmm

LeBron+Bosh for the next 6-7 years=digusting dynasty

OWNED!!

Don't forget the Spurs.

There are a few foursomes that will be contending for the 2010 title...

- Lakers = Kobe, Gasol, Odom, Artest
- Celtics = KG, Pierce, Allen, 'Sheed
- Spurs = Tim, Parker, Manu, Jefferson
- Magic = Dwight, Nelson, Lewis, Vince

Then of course, there's the Cavs. LeBron was so scary-good last year that he nearly got his team to the Finals by himself. Mo Williams didn't show up, and they had no answer for Hedo or Rashard Lewis. Anthony Parker will help defend those wing forwards, and even a past-his-prime Shaq will be an enormous upgrade down low. LeBron and Shaq will be rocking rims all... year... long.

My August prediction is an epic Lakers-Cavs Finals, even more epic than it would've been this past year due to the Kobe-Shaq dynamic. I don't know who would win and frankly I don't care... as long as it's entertaining and goes 7 games. A series I'll be telling my grandkids about someday.

Ever hear of the Luxury Tax? You know the one that the Cavaliers are currently in?

FAIL.
WHAT are you talking about? The luxry tax has nothing to do with those figures in 2010/2011.

Go to any cavsfans board. They will all tell you the same thing, NO max free agent is coming to your teams crappy city.
FAIL OWNED BLAH BLAH BLAH.

If you think this years luxury tax has anything to do with next years cap than you need to read Larry Coon's CBA FAQ.
