Also isn't it off the feild of play?
Yup, that's the technicality, it's off the field of play.

SO it'd be interesting to see if Roy and another player make similar hand gestures, OFF the field of play and are still flagged for it

It's not involving two players... How many times will this be brought up?

Maybe, just maybe, the original poster was unaware of that boss.

Did you think of that?

Ugh...I hate the excessive celebration rule, and I've felt that way before this season. Wasn't the purpose of it to keep from celebrations delaying the game? If that's the case, then I wish they would have still allowed for the players to have fun for a few quick seconds, and when the celebration truly became excessive, it would be a delay of game flag. I just can't see how a bunch of idiots doing the High Five was detrimental to the game in any way, other than it meaning the Commanders scored.

I didn't know that. Sorry guys.

To be honest the current NFL management is ruining the game. Before you know it they will be playing touch football and only handshakes are allowed.

I doubt Austin's jump was pre orchestrated. More a spur of the moment jump. Having two guys show the Hook em Horns getting a penalty is ridiculous.
it was grand fathered in when they changed the celebration penalties

RIGHT ON!!! This came to mind after the ref's found a new way to screw us during the TN. game. The "Peckers" and their leap is not only celebrating ëxcessively you can also say it delay's the game!! BUT, there is obviously a GB bias and that garbage leap is allowed to continue.

How is the Lambeau Leap not a celebration penalty? The guy runs around the end zone, tosses the ball into the stands and then jumps into the stands...

If that is not a celebration penalty I don't know what is.

The league officials have a double standard for sure and it really posses me off.

What is you guys take on it?

It's not a penalty because the NFL said it wasn't a penalty when the first started in with all those rules.

This is the bottom line, and like or not, fair or not, the players have to live with it and act accordingly.

I have mixed feelings. I was on board with them putting a stop to the theatrical productions, one act plays, dance rotines, placing props on the the field, etc ...... I think it's just hard for the league to legislate a clearly defined cut of point for what will be considered "excessive" and what won't. A person had to know gray areas would pop up.

So, instead of excessively celebrating on the field of play, the Cowboys should just walk outside of the end zone and do it there. ;)

When our players shook hands after a score, I was concerned about the two player and choreography rules.

Or the sidelines. Celebrating on the sidelines is 100% legal.

Because it's not 2 players in a pre orchestrated fun bunch deal.

Actually, there is a rule that says you can't use a prop. I think the stadium wall/seating would be a prop.

It *should* be a penalty by definition of the rule.

You may not technically celebrate a touchdown outside of the endzone period per the rules.....
