I like Jackson, but we have three running backs who could all start, and a good quality 3rd down/utility back in Dunbar. So, if everyone stays healthy, Jackson is most likely the odd man out and goes to the Practice Squad. That said, if we must have problems, this would be the kind we want.

I'm thinking more and more than Darren will be the odd man out at RB.

Right or wrong, it's clear that the coaching staff like Dunbar quite a bit.

I tend to think we'll see EE as starter, Morris as his backup/relief, and Dunbar as the change of pace. Jackson maybe on the PS? I can't imagine they'll keep 4 on the roster, but who knows?
Staff?

Jerry Jones drops his name constantly. Just goes to show you to be cautious.

This is the same man who praised Phil Costa.

Okay, lemme see now, Lance had an ACL, MCL, patellar tendon, 2 surgeries and he's been ready to return for 2 weeks now. He must be some kind of hard worker to recover, rehab and be ready for action so fast. On top of that he goes 7-on-7 after 2 days back -- gutsy! Lance may or may not be retained on the final 53 but any player who can get through all that in such short order deserves kudos. Way to go there, little big man. That took some major persistence, not to mention dedication . . . hats off and all due respect.

You guys are forgetting that Jackson is also playing special teams. So I really don't see him being let go. I think they'll find a way to keep 4 Rb's and use Dunbar as a rb/wr.

Just pondering something...Is Dunbar really "little"? He was 5-8, 205 in pre-draft workouts. The NFL website says Barry Sanders was 5-8, 200 and that Walter Payton was 200 pounds also.

Three games of decent production?

Weapon.

If Dunbar is a weapon, then Dak Prescott is a nuclear warhead.

That's my dilemma with Dunbar. Never healthy. Bob Sanders was a stud all world safety that won DPOY, but he couldn't stay healthy.

I would like to see Jackson with the 1's.

LOL -- well, not really but in terms of the average football player, I suppose it might seem that way. For that height, though, I'll admit it's pretty doggone stout. I did see fit to affectionately label him "little big man," however. I believe I saw in the past where Payton was listed as 210, though, although weights are known to vary at different times.

I am a Jackson fan.

He's a grinder. And capable of being productive.

Is he a "Dunbar clone", i.e. what people pretend he could be if he was healthy for sixteen games?

He is probably not as "explosive" and a "weapon" as people say Dunbar is.

At the end of the day who cares?

You could offer me ten Reggie Bush's and I would take the reliable grinder.

The reliability factor means a lot to me.

I really like Dunbar coming out of the backfield and maybe even as a wr (like what eventually happen to Eric Metcalf) but as a third/fourth rb (or fifth/sixth wr) that isn't a reliable special teamer (inuries) I just don't see a spot on the team for him.

I would love to see him get more snaps on offense but that would mean less snaps for EE and Morris so... no thanks.

I guess it'll come down to how many RB's they end up keeping and whether or not that last rb is more of an asset on ST's than Dunbar. Let's say it comes down to Jackson or Dunbar; Dunbar is more of an offensive weapon (right now) but I believe Jackson would be a more durable returner, plus jackson seems like he'd be more effective running down kicks and making tackles.

That said, they may decide to go with EE, Morris, DMC and a FB as the only RBs.

It's crazy he made it back.

I'm torn on Dubar this season. I really like what he brings to the offense, but the RB spots are limited, Zeke reportedly can run the WR routes, too, and it's really hard to trust that he'll make it back from that devastating injury and be able to stay in the lineup. I"m fine letting McFadden walk, but go back and forth between wanting a Jackson to develop and wanting a spot for Dunbar knowing Lance will be gone in a year if he's any good at all.

I'm resigned to the fact that the team will be keeping four running backs. And I expect it to be Elliott, Morris, Dunbar, and Jackson.

Dunbar is currently listed at 5'8 195 lbs on ESPN. I would say that's bout right. He prolly gets down to 190 during the season. Yeah he's smaller. The avg weight for NFL rbs is 215. This year might see a trend of bigger backs though.

Not sure why a lot of people seem to not like this guy. He broke out last year and was one of our only weapons on offense. He brings something unique to the offense. I hope he does well.

I get what you are saying. But at the end of the day, how valuable is that?

To me, it is nice on paper but when it comes down to winning games, how many times has that specialist like Metcalf, Tony Galbraith, Ronnie Harmon, Larry Centers etc. been the difference?

I just think we are forcing the idea of him onto this roster before seeing all the options.

One of which could be Elliott, who I think is capable of being a real threat catching the ball.

Dunbar's magical three games last year were a product of necessity. The talent has grown up around him.

Last year we had a mental deficient as our lead back and an oft injured underachiever as our insurance.[/QUOTE]

Doesn't hurt that he sees the talent at the position so jobs are on the line. BUT...you're right Bullflop, he clearly worked his tail off to get back. Kudos to him.

Well, his career track before last year was not good. And he has a proven significant record of injury and unreliability.

Regardless of potential, I fail to see why anyone would like him as a potential "proven" accessory.

Breaking out in 2014 does not mean a thing to me since that whole season seems like it was destined to fail even before the injuries sealed the deal.

Hes playing sts because that was his only way of becoming a bubble roster player.
