While he may get pushed aside by the need for more balanced backs this guy is electric. I would encourage some to go back and watch this back run. He is very dangerous. But I do agree he needs to play 12+ games a year at the least to be worth a roster spot.

He needs about 5 short passes per game to see his worth...

I like Dunbar and think he just needs more opportunities to prove he deserves a roster spot

It isn't a guaranteed deal. So pretty much we can a) pay him the whole amount, b) cut him, or c) force him to take a paycut or be released. Who knows, we may even be able to flip him for a 7th if he has a strong preseason but no real role on the team.

The only dumb move here would be not bringing him back at all.

They once tendered Danny McCray and then after TC gave him the option of pay cut or release.

Why waste a roster spot for a guy you're only going to give a few touches a month? Even if it is just a roster spot in April.

I am sorry, but I don't see why Dunbar is still on the roster. I remember last offseason when there was comments about him being a homerun threat and that he was really dangerous in the open field, but he showed very little during the season. I would rather see them sign a RB that had s more complete set of skills. In most games, he rarely played a down. IIRC, fumbles were an issue as well. I am nomt buying into the hype again this year.

true but DMC changes that

I don't think DMC changes anything. He has never had a decent season in the pros, and he was not even the best RB on s very bad a Raiders team last year. DMC has done nothing more than built up some hopes that are going to be crushed when reality sets in,

And once - after people suggested it was stupid to tender him - I suggested that exact thing might happen

I give Dunbar a 15% chance of actually making the team, and thats even if they cut Randle. The only way I see Dunbar making the team is if they dont draft a HB at all.

Its no loss. Dunbar is a combination of " doesnt get used much" and "not that good"

There's nothing wrong with this. Offseason complaints, they happen with every story.

If we cut Randle, I take that percentage up to about 70%. Dunbar will certainly be our #3, his only competition will be Williams and whatever undrafted FA's we bring in.

I disagree in part. He changes nothing in terms of us looking for a lead back. He isnt that or even close and anyone who thinks he is delusionaly drunk off of Zack Martin Kool Aide mixed with Travis Frederick vodka.

He does however effect the bottom of the rotation because while he isnt a quality runner, he is effective in blitz pick up and as a receiver making him a viable 3rd down HB. Something we dont have. I think he is a mortal lock to make the 53 based on that, even jf we get a 3 down guy like Gurley, Coleman or Ajayi
