Landon Collins

I’ve seen it reported today that the Giants will NOT franchise tag him. He won’t come cheap but I think he would cost significantly less than what Earl Thomas is reportedly looking for. Younger, cheaper, less injury prone and a big upgrade for our secondary if it were to happen.
Read an article today 10 fas not to sign. He was #3. Reasoning for... the giants were forced to play him in coverage more this season and he performed badly. Other reason he's looking for something averaging 15m per year!

Ya, as @Aerolithe_Lion posted up a thread with the top 25 "D" free agents earlier,,, the fly in the ointment with that view,,,
( which is obvious to me),,,is L.COLLINS hasn't ever been all that much of an impediment to our offensive assault being conducted ,while, on the flip side,,, that E.THOMAS has proved to be a bridge blowing MO-FO in the past in thwarting our efforts,,, just saying ya know, Bro!

I have a feeling we're going to be very active and add a ton of talent the first week of free agency. Scheft bomb after Scheft bomb on twitter.

If I’m looking to replace either Woods or heath I’m picking the heath replacement all day

Woods is very serviceable for his role... Heath is just a flat out liabilty and I cringe as any team with an OC worth his paycheck picks on him in isolation plays when they need a play

I read today that the Giants are not happy with his coverage skills which is why they are letting him walk...

Landon Collins, S, New York Giants

If the Giants allow Collins to hit free agency rather than place the franchise tag on him, it's worth wondering why. A supernova in 2016, Collins hasn't quite reached that same All-Pro level the last two years. My biggest concern would be about how to use him. Collins wasn't able to play near the line of scrimmage as much in 2018, and the Giants admitted that he was used in coverage away from the ball more often than they would have preferred. But do you really want to pay more than $15 million per year for a safety whose strength isn't in coverage in the year 2019?

If Heath stays..

I fatten him up by 10 pounds and move him to lber.in certain defenses.

He is OK within 5 yds of the LOS.

After that it's Katy bar the door.

That's the problem. I have been saying the past 2 years that Collins hasn't played well but yet some on here over rate the guy. Guess some don't watch the games and just go off of name recognition.

He had a great year after they put all that money into the DL. After that he looked like a typical box safety with limited coverage skills. With LVE and Smith here, I dont we have the need to a SS to play in the box

He could be Richards next Chancellor.

Just don't know how much a safety is worth when he is more of a in the box safety compared to a center field ballhawk.

Almost reminds me of Roy Williams. Has a great year, then struggles when asked to do more in coverage but still has the name recognition from his all pro year

If this was the 90’s Dallas would sign Collins and ET. Could you imagine our defense with them 2

Yeah I don’t think he will be cheaper than Earl. He’s about to be one of the highest paid safeties in the league.
