Sorry for assuming you were younger.
I'm sure in another context you would probably be happy about that...
You know what's ironic is that I think Bill did that because he thought he didn't have much talent to begin with. He thought he would have to spread defenses, open things up, get away from the things he normally did to be successful to get what he could out of a very flawed team. The bounces fell right for a while until teams figured out how to screw up Quincy regardless of the game plan.
I think his problem this year is he wants a grind it out running game so bad he can taste it. He has a very good RB. On paper his O-line is much improved. He has two good TEs. He knows he has a young, mistake prone defense and he wants to keep them off the field as much as possible. He desperately wants to keep Bledsoe out of 3rd and longs where he can be blitzed to death. I really think all the early running is just trying to get these guys uncorked.
The execution simply has not been there.
I'm not holding Parcells blameless. I actually agree that we should take a shot or two earlier in the game, and/or spread some things. I agree he ran up the middle too much against the Raiders.
I just think the criticism is way overboard when you look at what Bill has and what he wants to do. Our receivers are good, but they are not the 2000 Rams. Our TE is great, but has been getting a lot of defensive attention. Our QB comes in with a reputation for creating TO's the last several years, and perhaps is still being 're-indoctrinated' to BP football if you will.
Bill said his big mistake last year was thinking he had more firepower than he had. This year perhaps so far the pendulum has swung the other way, but its still pretty early in the year.
