As mad as we might be after a loss. At times when it seems we have totally misused our player, that our coaching staff is crazy and so on and so on. As many times as we have ripped on jerry over the years.

You have to sit back and count your lucky stars that we don't have al davis running the show.

I ain't a religous man but amen

why? If an owner is stupid its his business. He owns it he can run it anyway he sees fit.
That statement is completely untrue. The NFL is a business. The Raiders are a franchise. Al Davis CAN NOT run it anyway he sees fit.

It's amazing that anyone would take that job...

It's all about taking a chance.

You know if you turn it around there, with al as your HC, than you can pretty much name your next coaching job and probably be in the NFL for years even if you suck as a coach on other NFL teams.

Plus sometimes it is with coaches that will never have a shot at a HC job like that so they have to take it and the money.

I don't think you will see another serious coach with a good NFL resume even consider it. It will be nobodies until Al leaves.

The league has no business telling the owners how to run their franchise.

When it is hurting the league they do. The raiders are an important franchise imo. I dont think it would hurt if they helped them out.

on the flip side of that. It will never happen, davis wont take anything from anyone and I am pretty sure most of the league hates the guy, so most teams probably enjoy kicking their tails every week.

Al looks quite smitten in this photo when the boy was hired.

Yep, it's not a job for the longterm, but it's not a bad stepping stone job. It's really almost a no-lose situation; no badly how badly your teams stink no one is going to blame you for it.

Everyone laughed at Kiffin when he was hired because he was just a quarterback coach at USC, and now he's name that people actually respect and I suspect he'll probably get an OC position in the NFL this offseason. He defintely got to skip a few rungs on the coaching ladder, and added NFL head coaching experience to his resume.

If anybody's thinking about the NFL being "involved" with "helping" the Raiders franchise, consider the history of antagonism between Davis and the NFL. He's been involved in legal action on seeral occasions. I can't think of a single owner with a poorer history of relationships with NFL commissioners than Al Davis. He's still living with the idea that the Raiders are doing their "Committment to Excellence" shtick. He used to brag about them being the most successful franchise in the history of the NFL. The bottom line is that Al does things his way. Period. Believe it or not, Jerry Jones is one the owners that Davis has a decent relationship with. Why anybody with any sense of pride would work for Davis is something I'll never understand.

The nfl should step in and help them fix the franchise.

That would entail lots of duct tape, a silver straightjacket, and a black wheelchair for the feeble minded Davis. Go ahead and order a hood too, it's almost halloween.:laugh1:
