The video of Larry "Legend" Allen bench pressing 700 lbs is, IMO, superhuman. It blows my mind. I would think it impossible if it were not recorded on video.

A truly dominant player that struck fear in the hearts of our opponents what I wouldn't give to have him and his prime on our own line today for a super bowl run

He was something else.

Several things to unpack here. One is the announcers saying “Larry Allen” at the same time. I love that. Another thing is in my 50 years of watching sports this play might be in the top 5 of the most athletic things I’ve ever seen.

And the amazing thing is he did it again in the same game where he chased down a defender who picked Aikman.

Larry was drafted in the 2nd round in the ‘94 draft. He never had Jimmy as a coach.
Allen came after Jimmy Johnson.

ROH inductions are for everyone. Bob Lilly, Mel Renfro and Demarcus Ware were there too.

As a fellow big man, my guess is if he lives back in California, didn't want to squeeze into a plane seat. LOL

Michael Strahan admitted this. Defensive linemen would watch film of Larry Allen and some would find a way to get hurt so they wouldn't have to play.

Maybe some were scared of being physically hurt by him, maybe some were afraid of how bad they would look on film in front of their teammates the following week.

lol, good point. Larry also wasn’t the social butterfly of the team. He didn’t like a lot of attention.

Yes he did. There was a time where Larry Allen was not even the best lineman on his team. That spot belonged to Erik Williams pre motorcycle accident.

Before the injury the BigE was the s—-. Love that guy and he was not taking and noise from anyone. John Madden loved him some BigE too.

Yeah, he really did not like the spotlight. I remember when he got into the ROH they intentionally did it as a trio (Larry, Haley, Pearson all in the same ceremony). Allen even said he was more nervous giving his Canton speech than he was at any moment of his playing career.

Williams got hurt in a car wreck in October of Allen’s rookie year if I remember correctly. Allen only got better and more dominant, Williams was never the same.

Williams was bluntly speaking a shell of himself compared to post accident play
