Michael Strahan admitted this. Defensive linemen would watch film of Larry Allen and some would find a way to get hurt so they wouldn't have to play.

Maybe some were scared of being physically hurt by him, maybe some were afraid of how bad they would look on film in front of their teammates the following week.

:starspin:
DTs would ask the team to put them on the injury list so they had an excuse for being destroyed

Yes he did. There was a time where Larry Allen was not even the best lineman on his team. That spot belonged to Erik Williams pre motorcycle accident.
Larry was drafted in 1994, Erik Williams accident was on 10/25/94. Allen had started all of 1 game before that. I hope he wasn't the best lineman on the team. In fact Larry took over RT after Williams went down.

That said, love me some of both of them.

I wonder how much of a difference it would have made if Eric had not had that accident?
Just maybe we might have had more luck rebuilding the line.
What ifs are always heart breakers

Completely agree. Plus Williams was well on his way to a Hall of Fame jacket as well before that accident.

The video of Larry "Legend" Allen bench pressing 700 lbs is, IMO, superhuman. It blows my mind. I would think it impossible if it were not recorded on video.
Randy White was impressive on the bench, but not in Larry Allen's zip code!

Several things to unpack here. One is the announcers saying “Larry Allen” at the same time. I love that. Another thing is in my 50 years of watching sports this play might be in the top 5 of the most athletic things I’ve ever seen.

And the amazing thing is he did it again in the same game where he chased down a defender who picked Aikman.
I am surprised that Conner's legs worked after LA's tackle.

Larry was drafted in the 2nd round in the ‘94 draft. He never had Jimmy as a coach.
What does that matter? There were several RoH members at the ceremony who never had Jimmy as a coach. The point is, as a RoH member, Larry Allen should have been there.

Before his injury, Erik Williams was the best I've ever seen, even better than Larry, imo.
I think it’s interesting how people forget things or don’t put them in perspective with other players. Larry Allen is a great example. He looked like $#!% a few games when he had to replace Erik Williams his rookie year. But Larry Allen might be one of the most pimped ring of honor players, and he has a lot of impressive highlights, but even the great Larry Allen could look bad. The more games you watch, the more you realize you should never jump to conclusions. It was much more enjoyable watching football back then when we didn’t have 5,000 social media, national sport shows, or other Internet stuff jamming down our throats an instant sports opinion every week.

LA was better but then its easier at guard then tackle; but LA made the Pro Bowl as a Tackle back when that meant something

Just imagine if he had not gotten in that crash; two HOF lined up next to each other for years. Not sure the last time that has happened in the NFL
