Last 400+ Yard Passing Game?

By Kellen Moore smh. 1/3/2016

Dak only has 2 games over 300 yards passing.

Typically, a 400 yard passing game means we're losing - as the Cowboys did 1/3/16 - unless you're going against the Cowboys defense.

With Zeke in the line up the Cowboys are a run-first team. Considering there were 18 wins with him in the line up I wouldn't expect Dak to have a lot of 300 yard games. Probably could use some with Zeke out, though.

Lifetime, 400+ yard games are 186-149

We are a run first team.

We wouldn’t be having 400 yard passing games if Romo was our QB. Heck...he has only had a handful in his career. Romo only had one 300 yard game in 2014 as well...once we adopted this run first offense.

Using 400 yards to judge a QB in a run first offense is lame.

We are a run first team, I can't imagine we are winning many games if our Qb is throwing 400 yards (much less 300 yards). So this stat is pretty much meaningless to us, unless we are the Saints! I got to imagine 200-250 is the sweet spot for our system.

Was that supposed to be a mic drop? :muttley:

With Dak and Zeke in the line up the Cowboys are 18-6 (.750 win %)

186-149 is a .555 win %.

Like I said, with Dak and Zeke the Cowboys are a run-first team so I wouldn't expect 400 yard games. Without Zeke, we probably could use some.

But it would be very nice if we had a QB who we knew was capable of throwing for 3-400 yards if we neede him to do that. Romo we knew was quite capable of achieving such paltry yardage #'s consistently if needed.

Was reading about the run-pass option. Dallas supposedly added more to Dak’s plate with them and it could be a reason why he’s struggling more. His decision making process isn’t really fast.

I really don't think that is the issue. I think it is more he has to deal with our route concepts are not optimized based off the read option.

That is why losing the threat of Elliott matters so much.

300-400 yards is “paltry”?

I love using numbers to end posts.

It took Romo 4 entire seasons starting to reach 400 yards.(and Dak is being criticized after 1.5?)

Our record where Romo threw for 400+ yards?

0-3

(These numbers could be off, just a quick glance at Romo’s game log but they have to be close.)

No I think those are accurate... he’s also been on some weird stats where a QB loses when having a certain rating or something. Some odd stuff he owns like 2 of 3 losses. That’s how bad his defenses have been
