I think we have a pretty strong DL.
Problem is our DL is built to shine when they can pin their ears back and go after the QB.
We see it year after year, the team who can generate a rush with their front 4 and use the extra men in coverage are playing on championship sunday's. If we are able to keep DLaw, Gregory and Gallimore or Osa make the next step, we might have what it takes.I wonder when Jerry and Stephen will wise up to that reality?

Armistead had 6 sacks this year and 7 tfl. What makes him dominant exactly? And looking at his career he was no different than Gallimore or Osa his first 2 yearsOur DL is far from strong.
DT play his highly suspect. They have two nice rotational pieces in Gallimore and Osa but no real sure fire stud at DT.
Lawrence is our best player along the DL but he's not elite. The 49ers are trotting out Armstead and Bosa, two dominant defenders.

So it's just based on your opinion and nothing concrete. Ok. And like I said, his first 2 years he did as much as our guys.Watch him play. He's an OL wrecker. He's a big, run based DE that can also play DT (and does play DT at times).
He'd be our best DL the moment he suited up.
I can't wait for an offseason where people keep trying to tell themselves our DL is really good and only needs some tweaks. Like every other offseason around here.
Both games actually.I wonder when Jerry and Stephen will wise up to that reality?
It's not dominant. And he was allowed to develop. He started off like Osa and Neville like I just said!6 Sacks is pretty stout for a 3-tech

Discipline is more the issue rather than ability. The dline isn't a synced unit.It is not just the front 4. It is the front 7. The 49ers have 2 very smart and active LBs to fill holes and cut off those short passing routes.
The 49ers also have far more discipline on the DL. Their DEs do not rush too deep most of the time. They stay in their rushing lanes. They DTs keep the LBs clean. Basically they do their jobs. The Cowboys are not bad talent-wise but they are not as disiplined or as smart. How many times do we see Randy Gregory take himself out of plays over rushing too deep or to far inside? Lawrence is not as bad as Gregory be he will often do the same things. Then when the QB moves outside they can't get to him. Our DTs get shoved around too much. But they are young and still developing. I think Odighizuwa has potential, but needs to get more experience. Maybe Bohanna will be the guy who develops into the big run stuffing DT, but I did not see anything from him this year.
If they can get a big run stuffing pocket pushing DT in the draft, they should do it.
People forget, the 49ers have Javon Kinlaw too, but he was out with an injury most of the year. He was starting to come on for the 49ers this year.
But it is not just the DL on the 49ers. They LBs and secondary are good tacklers, have good range, and are very active in the run defense.
That’s speed, no strength. We cannot push the pocketI think we have a pretty strong DL.
