We have had some pretty good success the last couple of years. Have 5 new starters if you count Dan Bailey. Bryant, Lee, Smith and Murray. Hopefully Carter steps in for James and we draft OL and CB early. This year sucked, but we are not that far away.
Sorry, man. Can't agree. This team is in serious trouble.
Look at our schedule next year. Brutal.
If you watched the Eagles today and listened to their post game comments - they believe they finally have all the ingredients to make a run. Winning the last 4 consecutive games breeds confidence.
The Eagles and Giants absolutely dominated the Cowboys this year. We hardly got by the Commanders twice. If they ever get a QB, look out with their defense.
On D, we have virtually no D line pressure. We have the Keystone Cops for DB's. 1 OLB, 1 ILB, and 1 DT are our core players on D. That is 3 out of 11 positional players.
On O, this is about the 4th or 5th consecutive year that we have seen the 5 Stooges get their QB killed. We have WR's that can't catch or can't run proper routes. But, overall we aren't as bad on O as D. We do have 2 RB's, 1 QB, 1FB, 3 good (not great) WR's, 1 TE...
But, more than all of this.... Losing seems to be acceptable to this organization. Parcells couldn't figure out the lack of heart from this team. They quit on Wade. This year? They lost every game but 1 against teams with winning records. That speaks volumes. There is no reason to believe this culture of losing big games can be eliminated.
During the draft this year, it was refreshing to hear Garrett talk about drafting 'football players' - guys that just love the game. Maybe with enough time, he can identify and weed out the 'pretty boys'.
But right now... We are at least 2 years from being competitive - if everything goes exceedingly well with talent acquisition.
